I'm playing "catch up" here today...

"Allow me to ask your opinion.
Who do you like better? And why?
I will give a rundown list after a few posts.
Of course this is not necessaryly including the fact that Bill
leagueally stole Steves' Desingers ideas (os code) to make windows.

According to my information (as all on this post), The first deal that
Bill made with IBM for a gui, was a great turning point in the history
of software for the computer."

WOW - a loaded question and yes, I read all the other comments. I have
no opinion about those guys (and if you believe that... I have a bridge
I'd like to sell to ya!). They are so far out of my league mentally,
financially, entrepreneur wise and all that, that it would be wise for
me to keep my opinions to myself.

I do build websites, have found some awesome software to facilitate my
efforts but do have to say... I am glad they had their little war and
we can all enjoy knowing each other at this point in time, probably
because of it. Having been in the "computer related" business since
keypunch programmers were kings (I was one! Yep, back in the sixties)
and software programmers (I was one of those too) made pretty good
money, I can honestly say, I am grateful to anyone who carried the load
at any time to make our association with each other possible.

'nough said.

Have a great day all,

Heya Groupies...

Just a personal note. I had my surgery a couple of weeks ago and am
healing fine, only four days in the hospital instead of the projected
week. That was good news...

Russ developed kidney and bladder infections so is in a facility now
recouping and getting therapy - he should be home by the end of the
month. I am spending my days with him so am not here to reply to emails
or post.

We are doing fine - just busy with health issues and time, of course,
away from home does not allow for much online work or perusing.

Will be back soon and will try to check in more often now as things are
getting into a routine I can handle (sort of). HA!

Thanks for all the emails of concern, I think I managed to answer all of
them this morning and thought it might be a good idea to post so you all
would know I DID NOT DIE or fall off the edge of the planet, as I
thought I might!

Have a great and blessed day - I am off to see the Russter and help him
through his day.

Eileen

Hello Fellow Posters.

I am sorry but I lost track of this thread a few days ago. Russ is back
in the hospital - took him by ambulance one evening this week. I have
been home a precious few hours each day and try to relax a bit on those.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to get involved in this timely
issue. I have writen to my representative, congressmen, senators
multiple times on this issue so am pretty much "caught up" in that area.
Probably "ahead" as these things go.

Will check back in when I can to catch up here.

$2.2 Trillion Illegal Alien Taxpayer Sticker Shock
SOURCE: WorldNetDaily.com

2/3 of immigrants cost Americans $22,449 per person a year, shows new
study.

WASHINGTON – Someone has finally fixed an approximate taxpayer cost for
between 12 million and 15 million illegal aliens residing in the U.S.

A new study by the Heritage Foundation’s Robert Rector found a household
headed by an individual without a high school education, including about
two-thirds of illegal aliens, costs U.S. taxpayers more than $32,000 in
federal, state and local benefits. That same family contributes an
average of $9,000 a year in taxes, resulting in a net tax burden of
$22,449 each year.

Over the course of the household’s lifetime that tax burden translates
to $1.1 million.

If the lower figure of 12 million illegal aliens is used for estimation
purposes, the total tax burden translates to $2.2 trillion.

“Would any of us buy shares in a company that we knew would produce a
loss of a million dollars a share,” asks Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, in
response to the study. “Cheap labor is not cheap at the cost of over a
million dollars per head of household.”

Rector’s study, “The Fiscal Cost of Low-Skill Households to the U.S.
Taxpayer,” examines the economics of the 17.7 million American
households made up of people without a high-school degree. Using numbers
from the Census Bureau, the Congressional Research Service, the Bureau
of Labor Standards and other government agencies, Rector determined what
they earn, what they spend and what they receive in government services.

About half of the 17.7 million households studied are illegal aliens.
About two-thirds of illegal alien households are headed by someone
without a high school degree. Only 10 percent of native-born Americans
fit into that category.

“Over the next ten years the total cost of low-skill households to the
taxpayer (immediate benefits minus taxes paid) is likely to be at least
$3.9 trillion,” Rector writes. “This number would go up significantly if
changes in immigration policy lead to substantial increases in the
number of low-skill immigrants entering the country and receiving
services.”

Hmmm, just interjecting here. What are the outdoor "sports" that most
enjoy?

Hunting/fishing? Are these sports, hobbies or are these two things
considered "outdoorsmen" activities?

OH - Holy CRAP.

I missed the point of the thread. I got caught up in the replies.

I think yes, the media blows everything out of proportion that a white
male says. BUT, he was WAY out of line with that remark.

I do stil agree with gardenforge.

It is the media of this age, time and generation.

When will we get real news BACK?

I am sick and tired of watching every word I say and being called a
"cracker, whity, PP (prod princess)" and all that when I cannot open my
mouth to reply in kind. Not that I would, but jeeze a loo...

Diane - Your ex is (as you well know how I FEEL about the scum) a pig
from HE**. How's THAT for speaking MY mind?

I agree with gardenf also. When will we be able to either talk back or
shut EVERYBODY up who uses the RACE card to become famous? It is
starting to get under my skin a bit. If I can take it (and I can) why
shouldn't I be able to dish it right back out? I don't talk like that
but certainly WISH I COULD sometimes.

I would never in a million years say let's "go back" but I do remember
when national news & global news was a radio broadcast that caught the
attention of people (the masses in general) for 10 to 30 minutes a day
or a WEEK. It was news, no more. People were left to form their own
opinions, do what they could to help the cause (victory gardens and such
during WWII) and go on with their lives. People of different sects
(religions/races) came together to make a better community - the one in
which they lived.

Communites took care of their own problems with town meetings,
organizations and they cleaned things us up with husbands of garden club
ladies who complained about trash in the gutters downtown and the
citizens DID something about those things. They cleaned it up or they
found the funds in the town's budget to hire someone to do it. OR they
donated their time to do it. Shop keepers took responsiblility for the
sidewalks outside their stores to keep things nice and run off the
deliquents or called the cops when even a scuffle began. The old days.
The people (public) took responsibility for any problems that arose.
They had a voice and they used it, putting aside petty (mostly)
differences to make a real difference in their own towns.

NOW - we have national/global news blasted out of the TV and on the
internet 24/7 in multiple streams that are ALL ABOUT opinion and not
facts. "Here is my take on it" is not news, just entertainment (if you
can even call it that).

Our children have grown up not knowing or realizing what "community"
means. It does not mean jump on some bandwagon to get a top US official
canned or impeached. Will that truly make a difference in anyone's day
to day life?

The communities that stretch along the US/Mexico border are the first
communities hit hard by immigration. But of course that problem has
spread to the entire US and into Canada too.

IF more communities would have NOT looked the other way stating that it
is "someone else's responsibility" (the fed's) we would not have this
problem today. Leaving things the way they are by passing the buck up
the ladder has led to a situation that is already way out of hand and
has been growing for generations.

Take a few steps BACK (not in time) as of TODAY and see what one man,
who organized a few citizens in a few towns is doing about COMMUNITIES
coming together to protect and defend their ways of life. Of course
there will be incidents. There are always incidents. Do those incidents
need to be broadcast to the entire world? When that happens, outsiders
get waaaayy too much say in what happens to those people. It should be
a local matter, not a national one.

It is not up to you or me to say "this guy did wrong" in a particular
incident. It is up to folks in those communities to take these issues in
hand and make the decisions that are right for them.

The fact that it becomes national/global news muddies the waters and
brings in opinions that actually, at the end of the day, do not count
for squat. If we lived in one of those towns we would feel differently.
It leaves our young people wringing their hands, turning their heads
fifty different ways wondering who is right and what stance to take on a
subject (not this one in particular) that does not even begin to touch
their lives.

Community is where action should be taken. Unfortunately no one seems to
know what "community" means anymore. (Did I say that already?)

In my most humble OHpinion, I think those folks are doing the right
thing for their communities and ultimately for the country. Perhaps the
"powers that be" will take the hint. And yes, I know all about the
corporations, groups and all that, but putting that into perspective, I
would rather see my country be a safer place to live and that includes
my own community.

Hello fellow geeks!

I love this site and am staying around - I just want to get that clear,
right up front. This area was initiated by a specific request and I
truly appreciate it, very much!

In many emails I have been communicating with some folks here about SEO
work, my websites and their websites and it is starting to bog me down,
as it is others. I know why we cannot openly discuss our own sites, and
understand it too as that is not the purspose of this site, at all. I
will stick to the purpose and not water down what I am going to say
next.

I want a place were we can openly post what we want all to hear, ask for
help, work together as a group on our websites, exchange knowledge and
since I have been perusing google groups, yahoo groups (Ryze groups and
more) and found that many of those contain a lot of spam and such I
decided to just set up a new Yahoo group. I actually set this one up a
while back but had not gone back to it as time has not allowed. BUT now,
I am spending too much time with individual emails (here) when I could
be posting - With that in mind, I am posting the url for the new group.

VC and MIKE - I hope it is OK. I hope you don't chop my head off for
this!!!! BUT, I am posting the url to the group so we can readily
communicate about the subject we all keep going back to:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/WebShoppeWonders/

OK, I am probably in trouble but cannot spend anymore time with
individual emails!

Thanks to all for your attention. This might not stand for long and I
apologize for my beach in netiquette here!

intended and use this thread area also, I certainly intend too and uge

What kind of a comment is this to make?

Please do not bash the members for their opinions or statements.

You know I DON't know! lol. I had a terrible time with b2evolution!

Before I jump back into that I think I will go over to the manual and
read up some on WorkPress though. I don't get some of the terminology
and being able to blog is not a top issue for me right now but I do want
to know about WordPress too as I did delete the b2 and set up the
wordpress also.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this subject.

The USCIS (old INS) released this doc on April 5th which states that
133,000 H1-B petitions were received by that date.

Read it here:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/H1Bfy08CapUpdate040507.pdf

and then of course, the USCIS site is here:
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis
and the first link listed is the statement about the number of legal
applications.

So of 150,000 expected apps - 135,000 were received. They do state that
there could possibly be more than one app in an envelope so the numbers
are not set in stone. But it is interesting that employers do this for
many of the educated illegals. So out of the millions of illegals this
many applied to become LEGAL.

Off subject again on my own thread... sheesh.

Wow, some great comments. I agree that Bank of America and any states
that give out drivers licenses to illegal aliens should be fined or
SOMETHING for every infrigement. It is impossible at this stage of the
game to put a real number on the amount of illegal aliens in this
country as the INS is so underfunded, understaffed, and since it is a
gov agency, inadequate at it's job.

Now, so far, as everyone knows, I am a flag waver of the highest and
vocalist sort (big mouth) about this type of thing. Everyone is
welcome, if they do it by legal means and PAY TAXES like the rest of us
do.

Let's get back to the minuteman project though. Did any of you go look
at Gilchrist's site and see what has been happening???

Let's try to comment on that now... OK?

Thanks to everyone for your comments - you are a great bunch of folks...
