I'd say at least a year. It takes about a year for being in love to change into love and for the "pink clouds" to disappear. These clouds usually colour everything more positive than they are. So after approx. a year you get your common sense back and see each other for what you are, for real. If it still works and feels good, then you can start considering the next step.
I think it would be smart to wait at least half a year though, so you can really find out if you get along without the pink clouds.

So all in all I think 1,5 -2 years.
