Topic: Christian Meeting Place

I would like this to be a place where Christians can meet and get to know one another a little.

Please feel free to introduce yourself and share something of your faith in God.

I will start by saying I have had a faith in God since childhood, but it was later as an adult that I really understood the difference that Jesus makes in the heart of a believer.

I am thankful for the difference He has made in my life and the wonderful friends that He has given me.

Every day I get to experience His wonderful creation is truly a blessing.

Look at my pics, I actually used to be a "wolf in wolfs clothing" I won't go into detail but God pulled me back to his Grace by the use of many of the worlds events. If he will forgive me, and he has whether other people do or not, He will forgive anyone for anything. Now I prefer the title "sheep in wolfs clothing" Bless all who seek his knowledge, may it grow to understanding and transform into wisdom, So be it

Hey Britt...

Great idea! I hope you can keep it focused too. LOL Too bad we don't have a chat room to meet...we can play tunes...do worship... etc etc...

That would be great.

I got saved when I was ten. My grandfather on my dad's was a hard shell Baptist preacher. My grandmother's dad was hard shell baptist preacher. My dad was an Atheist and his two brothers didn't believe either way. Dad's four sisters were hard shell baptist. On mom's side my grandmother was a nondenominational preacher and I am not sure what her husband was. My great grandfather on dad's side turned my grandfather in for having a still. My aunts said that times were hard. Dad used to run shine for his father. It might have something to do while my dad became an Atheist. Mom and dad divorced before I was three. It was about when I was seventeen that I got addicted to alcohol and drugs but when I was twenty six I got myself into a treatment center. Eventually found a God of my understanding and even later came to find out it was the same God I had known all along. Go figure.

Kinda funny how sometimes it takes a ton of medicine to show us that the cure was as simple as saying cure me Lord. I sure don't understand why I went down the nutty roads I've been down. I guess it was so I could walk away from some of that same type of temptation today or something. Don't really know, just glad I survived long enough to experience the love of God again that I had known as a youngster

Thank you Marty and Rainbow for sharing.

Yes, sometimes it takes us a while to see what is right there beside us all along.

QS - thanks for stopping by. This could be a meeting place/chat room if you wish for sharing whatever is on one's heart to worship and praise the Lord.

Enjoy your day everyone.

God bless.

A good thought there Tom (Sharp).

For the benefit of any new folks would you mind sharing a little bit about your faith?

I go to a non-demoninational church which is fortunate to be led by a very well grounded Christian man. His love for the Lord is so apparent in all areas of his life.

I do not feel a Christian has to attend church although I do feel it is to our benefit to fellowship with other believers because God is interested in relationships, with Him and with one another, and it has helped me in my Christian walk; although I have also valued the time I have spent over the years simply with God alone.

I enjoy poetry as well as literature and Emily Bronte is amongst my favorite authors.

No coward soul

No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the worlds storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heavens glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from fear.

O God within my breast.
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life -- that in me has rest,
As I -- Undying Life -- have power in Thee!

Vain are the thousand creeds
That move mens hearts: unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds,
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,

To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by Thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast Rock of immortality.

With wide-embracing love
Thy Spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates, and rears.

Though earth and man were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every existence would exist in Thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou -- Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.

Hi Britty, my name is Brynda, friends call me Bry or Bryn. I was raised in church but was a very rebellious teen and didn't need those hypocrites in my life. So, in my "wisdom" I walked away from God and church. I got involved with drugs & alcohol and found myself addicted to both. I finally hit rock bottom in 1995 and cried out to Jesus. The minute I gave my life to Him, I was instantly cured of all addictions! I had no withdrawals or relapses, I've been clean & sober since March 1995. I have a burden for those dealing with various addictions and am involved with recovery ministry as well as prison ministry.
When I look back on what God has brought me through and how He continues to bless me I am in awe.

What a MIGHTY God we serve!!!

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"

The answers they got were broader and deeper than
anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even
when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."

Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."

Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody
most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."

Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"

Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should
start with a friend who you hate,"

Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."

Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."

Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."

Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of
chicken."

Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Brad Pitt."

Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."

Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."

Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and
down and little stars come out of you." (what an
image)

Karen - age 7

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you
mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."

Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo
Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the
neighbor, the little boy said,

"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need.

SILENT NIGHT 2002

SILENT NIGHT is based on a true story about a young mother (Linda Hamilton) and son who find shelter in a cabin in Germany on Christmas Eve of 1944. However, soon she finds that three German soldiers and three American soldiers also need a place to spend the night, and she manages to forge a temporary peace between the opposing soldiers to enjoy a peaceful Christmas eve dinner.

---

I saw this movie last evening, although I did not get to see it from the beginning it was a though provoking movie and very well played out. Linda played a great role as the brave young movie living a life of hope in spite of the cruelty of the Nazi regime.

This morning when the pastor at church made a reference about 'when hope and fear collides' it bought this movie back to mind. Indeed, it certainly did give a very clear image of hope and fear; the hope displayed by the young mom and the fear as the soldiers from opposing sides clash, but slowly through the bravery and boldness of 'Elizabeth' the solder's defences are laid aside as they get to know one another over a simple Christmas eve meal.
