Restart your computer.. when your computer turns back on as soon as you see the first screen... tap tap tap that F8 key and you should come to another screen that has safe mode on it.

Safe mode is used to remove programs that your unable to deleted. In other words it makes it easier to deleted programs that won't go away that you wish to deleted.. as well as virus and such.

Safe mode is an alternate boot method for Windows operating systems that makes it easier to diagnose problems. The only startup programs loaded are the operating system and drivers for the mouse, keyboard, and display modes display. It is often possible to get a system to start in safe mode when it won't start normally. To start in safe mode, press the F8 key while the system is booting and select "safe mode" (or the safe mode option you want) from the menu that appears.

How bout that copy and paste. happy

I had to use this recently when my video card took a vacation.

I have had to use safe mode only once when my new HD vi card refused to respond. But in safe mode, it wont always allow you to remove what you are looking for. But for the most part it will.

How often are you supposed to do this?

Hopefully....never. Safemode is just that, a safe way to boot up your computer in case of a serious problem the prevents a regular booting.

Safe mode loads ONLY THE ESSENTIAL DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE TO RUN WINDOWS! Meaning Windows and basic programs. It is a "diagnostic mode" used to work with the machine when it will not start of normaly.

As said before. Restart the machine and hit F8 repeatedly at the first screen to get a boot menu with the option "Safe Mode" and select it. Then hit enter and Viola!

Another use of safe mode is to run your anti virus in it to dispose of "Start up" virus.
