No cut and dry answer. At our age we don't just say " Will you go with me?"
I take myself off as soon as I realize I have feelings, Apparently guys here take themselves off when we catch them still on! lol

Never went to market to start with.......

still aren't.

I have an amazing love affair with a man whom I have been with for over seven years...

he is my ex...as in joined at the hip committed relationship....is now no longer happening.

We parted due to his choice of work, and where he needs to go within the music industry... life on the road for 9 months a year is not ok for a family... and he didn't want me sat at home alone, waiting.

I love him for that.

As to dating other men?

It was never an issue in the relationship... nor him dating other women, and now, it is still the same... he may meet a goddess purpose built for him... I may meet a god...we are free to explore that, pursue that, be that...

He walks through that door right now? I am all his.

I was never off nor on the market, nor am I now.

This is the first time I have done online dating .The part that makes me laugh is that I joined this site because I come from a small town and didn't think there was anyone worth dating left here.(If you knew were I live you would soooo understand!)I don't get out to meet new people much and this was my way to do that. Then I meet this great guy that lives not even 5 min from me in the same town!I have guys on here that contact me and some of them seem nice- and I don't want to mislead anyone.

I changed my profile to "looking for friends" this morning I was just curious as to what other people would do

agreed. the term market makes me think of fish on ice. or that I need a logo.

for myself, when I decide that this person is someone I want to date. no set number of dates but there is the feeling of more than just friendship and curiosity. there is that hmm your special to me. its a commitment of time that says im focused on you. and if its returned can bring some nice rewards.

Not right off the bat. Things can go awry after a couple of dates (as many of us, myself included, can attest), which can put you back ON the market.

I'd say you can safely take yourself off the market once you and the other party have decided to go steady, which should be around six months or a year into your relationship. And even that is no guarantee of things.

I've never dated nor never will date more than one guy at a time. I just don't think it's fair to me or him. When I'm datin someone I'm gettin to know them an only them. shades

It's weird, huh?

I guess the honest part of it all is to let anyone else know that you are exploring a new friendship with someone else, also.

That it is not a competition, and no one is compared.

I always let men know I have someone in my life, whom I love with all of my being... but we aren't together physically...nor have been in the same physical space for three years now...but that he is where my heart lays.

Yes. Soon as I realize that the relationship has some potential I give it my full attention.

Once I get past a few dates and see potential I would likely stop SEEKING. I would stop LOOKING when we are a couple.

Mind you this is all theory since the likelihood of getting past a few dates with anyone seems remote.
