How many of you have realized people always try to keep you as a back up person.

Few years ago dated a guy. Found out he was dating a couple people. Well, he went exclusive with one girl and when she dumped him a few months later he started trying to chat me up again. Didn't work. And then she wanted him back and he stopped talking to me again.

Then last spring I talked with a guy here and got to know really well and after about 4 or 5 months we started dating. Had an intense, whirlwind of a month and then he just went cold and said he wasn't interested. A few months back he came and changed his profile to no longer single. Then last month tried getting in touch with me again and seeing how I was doing.

Then I saw he had been on here again and viewed me and had changed his profile back to single and looking. Yet another guy thinking to come back to me as the "back up girl".

I NEVER do friends w/ benefits. And I don't take people back. So it always makes me wonder why men think I would be a good candidate to keep on the back burning in case they are between people they are more interested in.

How many of you have found this happening to you and do you have any theories why?

happened to me a few times. it gets old fast. give'em a few black eyes and it gets around to the buddies that you're not a push over. try it sometime

I've had a couple guys try that with me but I'm too smart for 'em.

Never saw much sense in doing that, but I'm weird too..lol

yea i hate that i always feel like im on the backburner

I actually had A guy invite me to his party he was throwing that night, Being a single mom, I dont get out much and i kinda had a thing for him as well, so as you can imagine...I (mistakingly) got excited. So I stayed late after the fair to meet up with him...3 hours after he was supposed to show up I called him and his excuse was that he GOT ARRESTED!!! Im not stupid. and Later found out I was on that back up burner...He had a "hotter" girl that he wanted to go so I was kept aside just incase she didnt show....I think a lot of us ladies have been there, and the rest just dont want to see whats really going on.

I don't have any theories, but I dated someone once who told me he always had a "backup plan." Whatever that means. I think it meant if things did not work out with one person, he had another in mind.

If I date someone and it doesn't really go anywhere...if he calls me months later, I would never give him the time of day. Obviously if we didn't hit it off in the beginning, I won't waste my time later on. NEVER LOOK BACK..ALWAYS LOOK AHEAD!!
