Unfortunately LOVE is not at the top of the list. Communication is the number one key. I do not mean just communication with your partner. In this day and age, your family and friends play a vital role in whether or not you stay together. You really need to think hard before you decide whom you choose to vent to about any problems you may be having. Your family and friends love you and do not want to see you get hurt. This works for men and women. So think twice before you set there and complain to your best friend about you and your partners issues. Because the next thing you will hear is you can do better, you do not need to put up this crap, you need to have someone in your life that works with you. An before long even the smallest things will piss you off to no end. I know I have been guity of this. My family and friends cared a great deal about me. They only wanted the best for me. Well sometimes you venting will turn them against your partner. So be fair to yourself set back and choose the words you want to use when talking to your partner or friends and family about your partner. It may help you in the long run.

I am truly a hopeless romantic and still I believe LOVE is not enough. How I wish it were. It is required as the main ingredient but it cannot ensure the success of a relationship by itself

Not even close to enough!
When I wore my rose coloured glasses it was, strangely enough!

In a perfect world love would absolutely be enough. In this world the only disagreements people would have would always end in laughter and hugs and kisses, nobody would cheat, nobody would lie and your heart would never be bruised let alone broken.
Love is not enough. Call me jaded, cynical or whatever, but 3 marriages down and the last one about did me in on the whole love thing.
I'm a closet romantic, but I'm a realist too. There is no happily ever after, Cinderella and that Prince isn't going to stick around when life gets hard.

To me, "love" is overrated.

Until I can figure out the right kind of mere mortal to "love" I'm swearing it off.

If I dig in the "archives" I do remember love once. And while it was like a silent consistent, its not what made the relationship last. That was a "partnership". Common ground. A melding of mind, heart and soul.

It's all about character. Love can be used to explain staying together, leaving somebody or cheating. 'Love' is blamed in many excuses. When we're feeling good it's a strength, when times are tough it defines our weaknesses.

Overall, Love stays the same, but as long as we dictate what, how and when Love is, it will never be enough to base a relationship on.

I still love my ex and she loves me------but it wasn't enough. We still don't have much in common, except our two boys.

love isnt enough for a relationship to stay strong, the other factors like honesty, trust and loyalty play just as important a roll.

My Grandma is the most backwoods, backWARDS, (leaving State out) bigot I have ever met. Yet..she's my Grandma...it's been a struggle.

"Romantically"......."love" could NOT overtake my ideals

Love is only the seed. You need trust, communication, honesty, intimacy, shared values, and support to make it grow.flowerforyou

It takes different things for different people. But no love isn't enough, you can love someone and there can be so many other factors that make it fail.
