Topic: DOES RELIGION MATTER TO YOU?

laugh My turn to make a typo. If you really love someone then you love
them. You have a choice and they have a choice. You choose them and they
choose you. It is all about choice isn't it? How can it be love if you
have no choice?

It is said "love conquers all". I would prefer to have a person in my
life that thinks for themself & if that includes them walking a
different path than mine, that would be fantastic, as long as a mutual
respect for each others philosophies existed.

Yes, I choose NOT to have a partner who has defined religious beliefs.

Why?

Because I can.

I couldnt imagine going to church every sunday morning when I could be
out enjoying gods creations outdoors.

Yep it would matter...if I could no longer be mefrown

Yes, it does to a degree. I could never fall in love or even steadily
date an atheist, for instance, just like I could never fall in love with
a die-hard Republican. LOL.

and then what happens when they start to insist this truth of theirs
needs to be taught to your children...then the trouble starts unless
both sides are able to give their persective equally and allow the
children to arrive wherever they do without discrimination or rejection
from community etc.

oh oh oh oh ....it can be done but it is messy

i agree..there's no way I'd be with a man who tried to teach our
children that there is no God.

Hi gang,

Paul was a more practical writer than people give him credit for. In
reality he was much like all of us. He used a lot of common sense types
of sayings, like the one brought up earlier, about being yoked.
Paul(once Saul) was a big persecutor of people seeking the path of good.
He was kinda like the neighborhood bully who wouldn't let up.

Once he went through a major change in his life he started seeing people
as equals. He followed Christ beliefs because he saw that Christ put no
man above another.

If you read the original statement Paul was saying you will find that it
says that "we shall be equally yoked". Some say evenly yoked. In todays
words this would mean pulling together as a team for a common cause.

I like reading the whole context, and looking at maybe a deeper concept
here. He and others were not real happy that the things that were
started by some of the guys were beginning to fall apart because people
started to argue and debate, instead of working together. I fact many of
the guys had to keep going back to the same people over and over saying
can we please just get the basics down first.

The bottom line is very simple when you think about it instead of trying
to make it into something difficult. Paul was saying if your going to
hook up work with each other not against each other.

One thing that the modern church does is they think that way back when
there were cell groups like there are now. We have become separatist,
and we justify this by saying we should be set a part. We are not
supposed to be enemies people. Just the opposite we are supposed to love
our neighbor as ourselves. Again in the original. We are to be servants
to them above ourselves.

Let me give a startling statistic. Do you know that in the US alone
there are 26000 different types of Christan churches. All of these
churches disagree with each other in basic doctrines.

I think Paul was a lot more basic than that.

Peace and love has got to come first.

No..religion is personal choice and not a couple choice..as for children
well that doesn't matter to me because I'm done having children. What
matters is how strong their faith is, as far as a potential mate goes.

Religion matters to a point. I believe in god but don't beleive my mate
has to have the same said belief in god that i do. As for marrying or
datling an atheist depends on how he expresses his views. I'm not a go
to church every sunday live your life to the letter of the law kind of
person and if my mate were more power to him i think if you put all your
cards on the table in the beginning of the relationship in regards to
religion then most points of diffrence can be worked out.

By the way Love does not conquer all it just makes you hold out a little
longer than what is most times wise.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18
--------------------------------------------------------------
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light
with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part
hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the
temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as
God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be
their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among
them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye
shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Just curious, for those of you who view the Bible with the idea that you
should not mix religions when considering a 'family' tie, does the same
Bible make any other reference. Like perhaps do not marry outside your
race? Or Do not marry outside your social status, like a slave? Just
curious!
