and drive home. While driving home you hit someone and kill them with your car. Whose responsibility is this? Yours? The casinos?

The person who consumed the alcohol and chose to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

Umm, you're kidding, right? How could a casino possibly monitor what every single patron drinks?

Your responsible nobody put the drink to you mouth but you ..It's not placing blame on casino .If your old enough to drink you have to be willing to deal with conquense ..
Please what about the family of the person you killed ...

( this is hypothetical I hope )

Yes, it is hypothetical, however there are two casinos where I live and some people think it is a shared responsibility between the person who drank and the casino for purposely serving free alcohol.

SO many folks out there these days want to blame anyone or anything other than themselves for their own actions! rant

It's like blaming the cell phone company when you get into a car accident because you were texting. People need to take more personal responsibility for their condition/action.

Well in reality it is the person that is drinking fault.... But by law the casino is also at fault in the long run for the ones that work there are suppose to watch for anyone that is showing signs of being drunk and should call them a cab as well as cut them off.....This law has been on the books for many many years just that it has not been enforced.

Just as of yesterday in the city of Mansfield Texas a Sports Bar has lost their license due to a guy back in February had been drinking entered the bar where they served him around 7-8 more drinks he left had a wreck left a 3 year old as a vegetable for the rest of his life. It went to court this is the first time in many years TABC has decided to pull a places liquor license due to it was the last Bar the patron left and had and accident...

This I feel may be a beginning to many more it may happen too... at least in the state of Texas. The Laws for Drinking and Driving here are not something to play with regardless if your a passager or the driver anymore..........

They figure one way or the other they will bring Drinking & Driving under control.....

unfortunatley due to the liberal and unaccountable society that we have become, both the drunk driver and the casino can be held liable. the drunk driver in criminal and civil punative, and the casino in punative..... Case law has already tolerated this and judgements have been awarded.

It would be the person who got drunk...The casino didn't Make them get drunk, didn't force the alcohol down their throat

Yes, I have heard of these judgements against servers and establishments... yet I still do not agree. It is ridiculous to always blame someone else for our own foolishness. A 21 year old, going out, should be able to be responsible for themselves and their chosen behaviour. Perhaps they should just have everyone be required to make a person's parents accompany them wherever one goes, to monitor and keep their "adult" children under control.

Babysitting at it's finest...

This is not a case with only young adults the case I just sited was a 46 year old man.

The laws have been on the books for many many years that if the server recognizes that a person has had too much to drink they are in fact responsible to cut them off and quit serving the person.

I was a Bartender 30 years ago and that was a Law back then and yes I cut many off due to they had too many to drink.....

Sure I totally agree the person should take full responsibility for their actions. But tooooooooo many will think just one more I'm fine therefore if the Bars, Casinos ect step it up and take in consideration that it could fall back on them it could save a lot of lives as well.

Bars are expected to do just that.

In this state, if someone gets drunk at a bar, and they wind up killing someone as they are driving home, the bar can be held responsible right along with the person who did the driving.
