The other day when I came home from work I ended up chit chatting with a neighbor. He's an elderly gentlemen, a very nice, professor type... In our conversation we discussed 9/11 and I mentioned that at one time I had had a NYPD hat from ground zero and it was stolen out of my car by a valet. It was something that meant a lot to me and had bummed me out a bit....

The next morning I went to my car and as I was preparing to back out I noticed an NYPD hat on my window...

It made me misty eyed.. Such a kind gesture for him to try to replace something the was very special to me...

I continue to stand by my belief that "most" people are truly kind, caring and compassionate...

That's an awesome story... Yeah, I too.. have to believe that no matter how bad or awful a situation, most ppl are good at heart, it only takes one to prove that correct....Thanks for sharing....

He's a nice guy, he flew there and gave counseling to some at ground zero...

I have to do something nice for him.. Not sure what yet... Was going to do a thank you card.. Oh maybe some of my cranberry relish..

That was sweet of him, as was said, a lot more people can be good and kind than we really realise, but to go out of his way like that...special. Thanks for sharing. flowerforyou

laugh laugh laugh Mys, you do desert darlin'...

I think Up's right a gift basket, that way if he's married he can share it with his wife or children if they are at home... Cooking could be a mistake b/c if I brought over too little and there were more people that'd be bad.. I don't even know which apt he's in, I'll have to find out from the front office...

Tell him thanks for me, such a rarity...this kind of heart. I wish I could tell him myself.

Try talking to him a bit more. You can find out what kind of stuff he likes and go from there.

When asked by a reporter something like :"What, in your opinion is the most important question facing humanity today?" Einstein thought for a bit then replied, "I think the most important question facing humanity is, 'Is the universe a friendly place?

Well you got your answer......

You might want to put something in your local paper. As your thank you...so others may see there is goodness, in our lives around us.
