Christmas is finally over! Am I the only one who feels this way?

Nope. It's become all about pressure and stress. For some people, not having a Hallmark Christmas can be very disappointing. I also find the this time of year can bring out the best or worst in people.

It is not over for everybody.
My brothers will be in with their families
to celebrate Christmas with our father.
Because of his health situation, this may
be the last time for him.

He is sooo looking forward to it...the visiting,
the meal, and the singing of Christmas songs.

So I can't relax yet. This part of Christmas is
more important than the small gift exchange and
dinner the rest of us had Christmas eve.
Yes, it is stressful, but this one is worth it.
 biggrin

In your case Jan, it would be worth the stress to see that one last Christmas for a loved one is what they were hoping for. We all want our loved ones happy.

For the rest of us, like Biglife said, it can bring out the good or the bad in us..and we all can't do the Hallmark Christmas anymore. And personally, I'm happy not having to put on a "Happy Face" just so I won't hurt someones feelings if I'm not happy like they are about all the goings on. I'm not Ba Humbug!but I'm not Miss Chatty Cathy either about it.laugh

And Like Silver, it's tiring! asleep

I've never met Startraveler, but it sounds as if he is happy it's over also.

Sorry to say that I am happy it is over too. Worked Christmas Day so mine was Christmas Eve and then came home to clean up the mess after work on Christmas Day.. but it was nice to see the children have so much fun, at least until the all the presents were unwrapped.

Guess I must be an old softy, but I LOVE THE WHOLE SEASON and I am sad when it is over. I always have and always will love EVERYTHING about Christmas, even death of loved ones can't take my spirit away. I dwell on the REAL meaning of the season and bask in it. I hope that I can carry that same feeling and love throughout the year (I at least try too) so that the people I meet are left a little happier, wiser, and giving. It can be stressful only if you let it....flowerforyou

You have your children right down the street.A large family that you share everything with. That is the greatest reason for your love of the season...other than the "Reason for the Season" Our Lord and Savior..
But in your ol'softy heart for the season and your wanting everyone to enjoy it,,how would you fare, without the support of your family, that lives right down the street? You have had hard times, like we all have had. We commend you on your fortitude. But Mary, no matter how much you would like to be the shinning example for us all we still have feelings of stress at this time of year. It is depressing being along and FAR from our families and friends. Not all of them live right down the street, or even in the same state. Just beause we may join in on the festivities of the season, doesn't mean that that the sress isn't there or isn't real. Allow us that much, please Mary..we don't try to let the stress get to us..we do try to get through the season the best we can...and please try to understand why we are relieved when it's over.

Watching the children is the main thing I miss..and fussing about the mess I had to clean up!laugh But I treasure each time I had to do it.

Very glad it is over. Just doesn't seem like the Holidays with out the kids and family. Moved to AZ last February so this year I flew solo.

Oh I know. What a joy they are. But, this year, working on Christmas day, it just was a bit of a hassle for the clean up...

I think this is what I was trying to tell Mary..I'm so happy for the ones who have their families and friends with them to help celebrate the holidays, but no matter how much we try to keep up the traditions and everything,,,,it's just not the same as it was when you're far away and alone.

Chriatmas was great when the kids were young, all that excitment and the look in their eyes when they would see the tree and all their gifts. Now they are all adults and there are no babies, so to me Christmas not as much fun. OH and working 2 jobs, one of which is in retail, can suck all the Christmas spirit right out of you. So YES I am glad it is done for this year, and hope that next year it will be better.
