They don't buy us drinks! laugh

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/relationships/article7072696.ece

Recently, in a fashionable Dublin bar, I met two French sisters whom I know socially. I asked what they were having to drink. The answer: two cosmopolitans (£18). Later, one of them, Aisha, said: “I think I’ll have another.” “Why not?” I replied, adding pointedly: “I’ll have a Carlsberg.”

A sudden silence jarred the moment. I told Aisha, mildly but firmly, that it wasn’t my turn to buy. She responded with a petulant lecture on how, if I were a gentleman, I would never ask a lady to buy a drink. “You’re obviously not a gentleman,” she said. “And you’re not a lady,” I replied.

Unfortunately, it’s not only French women who don’t believe in buying a drink for a guy. Neither do the fair ladies of these islands play fair at the bar. For men, offering a lady a drink is such a reflex that, certainly for the first round, we scarcely give it a second thought. The problem is the second round, and the third, and so on. Some women are happy for a man to pay for every round, even if they have only just met. I’ve yet to meet a man who expects a woman to buy round-for-round. But we do believe a woman should occasionally go to the bar.

There are two key reasons why women believe they shouldn’t buy drinks. One is that since men are already expected to take the sexual initiative and do all the running, we should also do the buying. In this weird conception of courtship, men have to pay to be allowed to spend social time with women.

The other justification is a blend of old-fashioned coyness and a modern shot at empowerment. But it’s a pretty cheap shot. Vaguely packaged as the expectation that men should be “chivalrous”, in reality it’s a twist on an old, cynical adage: treat ’em mean, keep ’em keen.

In progressive countries such as Denmark, women don’t merely enjoy the perks of gender equality; they also live up to its ethical obligations. Danish women often proudly buy the first drink, and it’s never read as anything but charming and generous. Not a bad look, fair ladies.

The problem with women? Where do I start!

They can never make up their minds.

They never stop talking.

Always have PMS.

Never want sex.

Uhhhh oh wait a minute.....Why there is nothing wrong with women. After all I am one.

I won't even let a man buy the first drink. I came to the bar with my own money and I plan to spend it on my drinks.

I do not like free loading ladies or men for that matter. Now if we are talking to one another and we discuss that he would like to buy a drink for me, just one, I may allow it.

The last time someone bought me a drink at the bar, he bought my friend and I a drink on his way out of the bar. By the time we got the drinks he was gone. I am not sure what he was doing by doing that but if he wanted us to remember him for it, we do.

If a person goes to the bar, they need to be grown and bring their money. If they don't have any money, they need not be at the bar.
That goes for male or female.

I have bought men drinks in my day.
