Topic: Outsourcing your dating...

Caught a quick thing on the Today show that apparently, people are outsourcing their dating to assistants. They have the assistant match them up with the person, send the first initial emails and get-to-know-ya's as themselves and then sets up a time for you and the person to meet.

Now tell me this, if one is too busy to find their own date, aren't they too busy to actually date?

I tried to talk my brother into letting me try with him, but that didn't go over well. LMAO!

I know personally, I'd be pissed!

Anyone else see it?

No, but I would like to try it.

Since I've never been able to meet anyone unless it was through other people, an assistant might be the perfect solution!

A well-connected assistant, I'm thinking....

But would you have your assistant tell the other person it was not you, or would you fake the other person out?!

@Patsfan - I'll agree with you on sad!

We're sorry, all Totage representatives are currently busy responding to other threads. Please hold for the next available assistant, or try again later.

I would want the whole thing to be as secretive as possible until the last minute. If they thought they would be meeting a Soviet spy or a Neanderthal or Hitler's tailor's grandson, I think things might go more smoothly.

This is simply personal match-makers.

If I had $20,000-$50,000 I might try it - many celebs do also.

I'm sure there is cheaper echelon for the not-so-rich. It's just one more way to network (I suppose).

I had a friend of mine set me up recently.

I've know this friend for 3 years and she KNOWS that I don't date men with kids or guys my age - as well as my style choice.

I really like this friend - and thankfully I still do - but oh she screwed up!!!

Blind date: the guy was only 5.10, beer belly, goatee, shaved head, 46 years old with FOUR kids!!!

We met as a foursome, with her and her husband. After a half hour of chit-chat, I asked her for a girlie run to the restroom. When we were alone, I asked her if this was a colossal prank. I said, “EVERYTHING about him is the opposite of my taste - especially the kids and bald head”. surprised slaphead

She honestly thought we would be a good match.

The night was fun because I felt NO pressure to be on a date with him. We all chatted the night away; no hard feelings. Turns out we had nothing in common either (he likes Nascar and hunting - and he smokes pot). He is a really nice person but not for me.

I want it to go on record that I tried! I trusted someone to set me up. No more - ever - but I tried!! tongue2
