I just found out this past week my landlord is raising my rent by $300.00. I didn't see this coming. I have until October to find a place to live. My husband and I are separated, and I'm not so sure he is coming back. It's a long complicated story. Thing is I really need the Lord's wisdom and guidance right now and a place to stay with my two son's. One of my boys has Down syndrome and is suppose to be starting school. I am overwhelmed since I live in this huge farmhouse full of stuff. I feel very much alone.
Thanks for your prayers.

Tip: SIMPLIFY .. moving is a great time to dump all the stuff you don't use or need. It's healthy for your soul

My 18 y.o. son called me today to schedule his driver's license test. I told him he needed to get his butt home and do this since I've been here packing but having no clue where we will live. He's been gone since Friday and was suppose to be at his Dad's turns out he took a turn to go be with his brother who has his own apartment. Anyway he has one yr to go to graduate from h.s. Today he told me if I end up in low income housing he is moving out. I hung up the phone on him thinking this is NOT how a family supports each other during such a crisis. My child needs a good kick in the behind, but ya know he's 18 now! Kids think they KNOW everything at that age.

My husband is saying he will buy us a house, but as a counselor reminded me HOW will I maintain this house, and what if this all ends in divorce since he doesn't seem to be making any effort on working at the relationship. He is in counseling for himself but when his counselor told him I'd come in, he said he wasn't ready for that. This was before the housing situation. Anyway I need a miracle here. I'm having a hard time dealing with the stress of all of this.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen
God I ask that you help Mystique to get through this difficult time. I ask this in the name of your son Jesus Christ.
Amen

I know the Lord has a special place for you. You may want to sit down with your 18 yr old son and talk to him as a man and explain the situation. I think he may not only appreciate it but help out. Good luck to you and God bless

wow! unreal.. ive heard of 5-20 dollar hikes a yr but 300 all at once? there should be some sort of limit! I wish you luck on finding some new place.. perhaps what i did 5 yrs ago when i sold my house.. i priced what i could afford.. and pretty much did not need the 18 yrs of stuff i had to furnish my place.. i got rid of extra stuff too so i could buy new.. but i had a wad of equity.... easier to rid a few things before moving than to do so afterwards or pay storage for them...

Update: I am hoping I am approved for a doublewide if this is in Gods plan for us. Hopefully I will hear something more on Monday of this week. I have a yard full of stuff that needs to go.... bikes, twin mattress set, toys, games, picnic tables, clothes, a livingroom suit, coolers, bee keeping equipment and more. Im praying all this stuff finds homes soon.

Wow that is a heck of a jump in rent. With so many properties setting empty your soon to be Ex Landlord sounds like an idiot. Maybe he is getting pushed out of another property.

Wish you luck in renting the doublewide.

A fall back suggestion would be to contact your local Habitat for Humanity. Not likely they could provide you a place immediately but they often have extensive knowledge of the local houseing situation and programs to provide it.

There is also a National homeless houseing program called Family Promise that is excellent and comprehensive. usuallyt hey work through your local coaliton of churches. They have lots of experience with special needs family and include counseling. Also United Way First Call for Help can make various referrals.

That you do have a child with Down's Syndrom you may have some special rights as far as how long they have to give you to vacate. It is possible with help from your local houseing programs or your Congressman or State Senator you could forstall the eviction. Every state has a legal advocacy unit for special needs persons/children. You might get a court injunction.

Not a bad plan to download anything you don't need in case you do need to move. Wish you luck with your sales. Several charities will help you clear off what you can not sell.

Having been in your shoes I encourage you to keep the faith. I have recovered and now own my late model car and home outright not even a decade later on a fixed income so I know it can be done. Easily no but possible.

I didn't think this would be legal; $300.00 rent increase?!!!!

Wishing you all the best during these times.
