Do you hold all others or the world to your personal standards?

Example: I am extremely no nonsense when it comes to those who are close to me and going to jail. They go to jail, they stay there and they figure out how to get out. I don't visit nor send money.

But for those I don't know or the world at large I don't expect them to suffer the same fate.

I don't feel it is right to hold those unknown to me to the same judgments and standards that I hold to myself and my life.

Do you separate this in your life?

IMO, if they did something to get put there, they deserve to stay there whether I know them or not. But if I don't know them, why should it affect me?

I do my best to set my personal standards to exceed those around me. I wont settle for what everyone else thinks is good enough...I want to be better for me, not for the opinions of others.

Ironically, it is that same philosophy that allows me to excel at my profession, and at many aspects of my personal life as well.

I don't expect of others what I expect from myself. (this is gonna sound arrogant and condescending) I expect others to do as little as they have to....more often than not...that is exactly what they do.

my personal standards are very high.....
the rest of the world is quite different, many live in horrible conditions & struggle to survive
the difference is brutal

my standards are my own

my judgments arent dependent upon the subject

for instance, I have a standard for myself concerning femininity, its unacceptable for ME to behave in a non nurturing way

I dont expect the world to have the same opinion of what femininity is

I have a judgment regarding sexual relations belonging within marriage, I havent lived up to that in the past and feel that I have been weak

I judge others with similar sexual 'flaws' as weak as well,,,

I guess that would rank me as a "limp noodle"

Krupa, if you are going to talk about you being a limp noodle, then you should be posting on the "Intimacy & Sex" board. laugh

why encourage him?

If he's a limp noodle, then he needs all of the encouragement that he can get, because he might not meet any woman's standard. laugh

ha! I am the human crowbar of love! My statement was in reference to those who have nookie time outside of wedlock as being weak.

I just realized how similar that wedlock is to headlock...hmmmmmm

..personally if someone close to me is in jail over some minor infraction ..i am there..the next time well i'd probably help them out too, providing they paid me back from the last time ..now the third time..might be a little hard..but it really has to do with who it is and why they are there

..but as a friend or family member it's pretty much a guarantee i'm there the first time..after all everyone makes a mistake, including me..so i can't very well hold someone to a standard that i can't obtain..or that would make me a hypocrit, which is not a standard of mine... smokin

If the whole world held my personal standards as the standard....

Sheeee-it!!!!...

it would be a pretty cruisy happy go lucky, serve yourself, and do it yourself kind of world.

The 'outer' world has helped create the 'inner' world of me, and my standards...I learn from 'out' there, and create, develop and hold fast through the standards of 'out' there.
