If this heading took you right back to grade school, welcome to my life!

Like a lot of jobs, my new job (which I am so grateful for) at Home Depot posts pictures in public places, like if you are employee of the month, or win an in store award...stuff like that. So tomorrow is picture day for me and way to early a start to my day to boot, I am not a morning person...

So here is my question, are you photogenic or not?

I am not a dog, I do look at least my age, in pics I my ruddiness comes out, my thin lips disappear and my nose grows like Pinocchio on a field day! I am to old and smart to be vain, this is not about being vain, I just don't photograph well. The pics I have on here are the best of about 30 taken that day.

So are you photogenic and do you have any tips for me to look better in these very public pics???? HELP!!!

I've always found that my best pictures are taken when I'm caught off guard. I've been told I am very photogenic, but then I am my own worst critic. Probably why I don't have any pictures more recent than 2006. lol

I know the best pictures I ever had taken were professional photos taken for my senior year of HS. But when you have a roll of film taken you're bound to get a few that are decent...

I also feel I don't photograph well. Mostly cause I always come out with too many chins and a huge forehead....ohwell

the lighting makes a lot of difference...try out different lighting angles at home...then if you have any control over the Picture Day...try to recreate the best lighting angle. (not easy with the harsh fluorescent lighting in commercial buildings)

Sorry I don't have any better advice....good luck

and congrats on the job

Thanks! This is why I am always behind the camera!! I take great shots because I pay attention, oh not always in snap shots, those can be hit or miss but when I am paid or a family member or friend wanted a good pic I was so on it.

I have my foundation (which is never right but tones down the red) eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss all laid out in the bathroom so that I can't possibly forget in the morning. UUUUGGGG

I have no idea if i'm photogenic or not

I do know that my friends and family seem to differ in their ideas of what a good picture of me is, i almost never agree with them...

Well the pic you have posted now seems very good, a little sultry, a little sad, very beautiful.

Even when I was your age (young) I was not photogenic and in those days I was pretty hot. Meaning young, no wrinkles, no eye lid droop, no gray...but none of that has to do with photographing well. If a photo shows you well and honestly it is a good photo, not always flattering but a good likeness of how you appeared in that moment.

The photo I have to have taken tomorrow is like a mug shot of drivers license shot....I just hate being in front of the camera, what do I do with my hands? Smile which is friendly but increases wrinkles...guess maybe you have to have a history of being not photogenic and be of a certain age to get this.

Anyway it is all silly, it will be what it is and nothing I can do with creams or make up will change it.

Just bored and wanted to hear from all those who hate having their pic taken I guess...

okay, you know how you take a million and ten pictures of yourself?

try it with a web cam on or in the mirror so you can watch yourself or with that niffty digital camera with the view/review screen

take a million and ten pics trying expressions postures etc. see which ones you like best and then focus on what you did in those for the photo tomorrow

like the new photo now... just used the webcam a whole 3 min ago fabulous thing technology!

I don't photograph well either, thus I am always the one taking the pics at family get togethers..lol It does seem like the outside pics are the better one I have been in so I'm sure it has to do with the lighting.. I wouldn't worry to much and just try to smile a little..lol Congrats on the new job!!

outside pics would be the best because of the lighting

the best time for pics outside is 430pm to 530 pm depending on the season....

lessons 101 in professional photography.....I take most of the photographs around my family as well...they say its almost like I can capture the spirit of the moment....I thought about doing it professionally..but never really pursued it...

though I'm sure there isn't much seamac can do about the lighting for her photo..unless she can ask to take it outside...but that may be a little excessive...., perhaps in the out door garden area where the plants are?

You know it never hurts to ask...makes for whimsy and memory....

I look just like my photos. Except for right now. Right now I have major bed head and I haven't brushed my teeth and my jammies are all twisted around from sleeping.
