I am christian, but I really do think......
 "An eye for an eye".  Or...... however they killed their victems, kill them the same way,only slowwwwwwwwwwwer!  <---------looks up Sorry, not very christianly huh? hehe. |

I am against it unless there is DNA evidence to prove their guilt. I don't think it's a deterrent and it costs us a lot more to kill a man than to keep him locked up until he dies of natural causes. However, as long as their is DNA evidence, I'm okay with it. I have no moral objection to it.

If there is unquestionable evidence that has been checked and double checked and there is no other way that it can't have been that person and the evidence has been thoroughly checked for anything that is fake evidence as well and the person is definately the person who done it, then yes they should be on death row. BUT, I beleive that before they are put to death they should be given a certain number of years. This not only punishes them while they're alive but it also gives time for the evidence to be checked etc.
I once heard of a guy who was convicted of a mass murder. He was put to death within 6 months. A short time after, it turned out it was not him. |

whats your opinion on the death penalty? ineffective, in my opinion it assumes criminals are going to think they will get caught, which most dont people dont stop drinking and driving because of the real possibility of terrible death, they dont stop committing crime because of it either and it reinforces the idea that there is ever a good 'reason' to plan on killing someone... IMHO |

However, as long as their is DNA evidence, I'm okay with it. I have no moral objection to it. Im confused! When you are sentenced death there is an automatic appeals process which is very expensive. However, I would imagine the cost varies by state. Some states execute faster than others. |

I would support a panel of judges who would vote on the evidence to determine if a criminal should be executed, only a unanimous vote would return the death sentence. It would also be nice if the punishment for murder was also partly based on the likelihood of repeating the offense. A man who beats his wife to death is far more likely to re-offend than a man who killed a sex offender who abused his child. I would also extend execution to violent sex crimes.

I think before they flip the switch they MUST be certain that they have the right person, beyond that, the individual will never do it again. |

whats your opinion on the death penalty? Too many have died that did not do the crime. Many people that deserve to live die. Can you give life? Then do not be so quick to give death. Having said that (JRR Tolkien), if the DNA matches and you are completely sure and don't make mistakes, yes. Especially for child crimes. |

I am for the death penalty, especially when someone confesses... They should go straight from the courts to death row. Maybe get a week at the most to say their good byes and get everything in order (just in case they did not before).
I did a college paper on the death row and was shocked to find that there are people who have been waiting for execution for over 20 years (as I recall the one guy had been waiting 27 years). The system is messed up the way it is... |
