Topic: Two Charged With Beating A Homeless Man

A young man strides purposefully into the woods as a cameraman asks what he's about to do.

"About to go beat up this bum," the man in the video says.

And that's exactly what he does, punching and kicking a homeless man in the face, bloodying his nose, before wishing him a Merry Christmas.

The videotaped assault has led to criminal charges against a 20-year-old New Jersey man and a 17-year-old boy accused of filming the assault while egging the attacker on.

"Just dive on him! Dive on him!" the cameraman says on the video as the assailant approaches a disheveled-looking man in a wooded area of Wall Township, near the Jersey shore.

The young man in the video knocks the homeless man to the ground, as the attacker and the cameraman dissolve into fits of laughter.

It's unclear when the assault took place, but Wall Township police say they got word of a videotaped assault on Sunday. The video had been posted to YouTube but was unavailable on Monday after News12 New Jersey posted it on its website.

Police charged 20-year-old Taylor Giresi, of Lake Como, with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit assault. A teen they say recorded the assault faces a charge of conspiracy.

Giresi was jailed on $60,000 bail. A message sent to his Facebook page and telephone messages left at four homes in the Lake Como area registered to people with the same last name were not immediately returned Monday.

On a Facebook page that appears to Giresi's, he claimed to be a model whose likes include the TV shows "Jersey Shore" and "Jackass" and the marijuana comedy movie "Half Baked." On the tape, the cameraman says, "That was Jackass' `Beatin' A Bum."'

Police didn't disclose the identity of the teenager because of his age. He was released to the custody of his parents. Police did not immediately respond to requests for additional information, and it was unclear if other people are suspected of participating in the assault.

Police said in a written statement they received a report Sunday that several people had attacked a homeless man, filmed the assault and posted it on YouTube. An investigation between Wall and neighboring Belmar police identified Giresi as one of those involved, police said.

The victim was "a Wall resident who often finds himself homeless," police said.

"The video showed that the subjects involved took advantage of the victim's unfortunate circumstance and targeted him on two separate occasions due to his financially destitute situation," police said.

It's unclear what became of the victim, whose face is shown bleeding during the videotaped assault.

After initially attacking the homeless man, the young man in the video returns to him again. As the cameraman urges him on, he punches the homeless man in the face, sending him sprawling to the ground.

The two then announce they are stealing the homeless man's bicycle.

"No, I need my bike!" the victim protests.

The young man smiles at the camera, then runs off with the bicycle as the cameraman yells, "Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever the (expletive) you are."

The second part of the video appears to chronicle a different assault in which the same victim is punched, kicked and knocked to the ground. He slowly gets up and looks directly at the camera as the cameraman apologizes for the assault in a sarcastic tone.

"Oh, my God, you're bleeding!" the cameraman says. "We didn't mean to do that. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Wipe off the blood."

The cameraman then directs the young man to give the victim a hug. The bleeding victim reaches out to hug his attacker, who then rams his knee into the homeless man's stomach.

The homeless man begins to scream, prompting the attackers to leave, but not before the young man runs up and delivers a flying kick to the victim's head.

"You gave him the big boot!" the cameraman exults. "The big boot!"

It's because they see this kind of stuff on reality TV and everyone wants to be a star. It kills me when people watch shows like Jersey Shore and Laguna Beach and think it is real life and they dont realize it is a scripted television show jut like Two and a Half Men or Criminal Minds, no difference.

Even shows like Survivor arn't true reality. Every "contestant" is paid a good amount of money to be on the show, even if they loose they are still making bank.

If they don't ban Jersey Shore they should have to put a disclaimer at the beginning, after every commercial break and at the end that it is a fictional scripted drama, these clowns are not role models and do not act like these retards.

This is why we need Republicans in charge of all three branches of government-- if we did, the homeless man would still be homeless, but instead of food stamps, the government would buy him a gun and supply him with surplus government bullets and a laptop.

Disclaimer: In case you couldn't tell, this was sarcasm.

Oh Yeah... and in the leftist utopian society everyone being homeless would keep this kind of thing from happening..

But atleast you would know that people like Oblahma and his millions in wall street cash would really be looking out for you..

Somehow, I don't suspect the Koch Bros are up nights worrying about the plight of homeless people. Like yourself, they'd like to see all unions disbanded so business can create a utopia in its own image where they have everyone else over a barrel.

Remember what Ambrose Bierce said about politics in his Devil's Dictionary?

Politics, n. , A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.

One has to wonder if Bierce had people like the Koch Bros in mind when he wrote that.

This has nothing to do with politics this has to do with some punk a$$ kids who are influenced by TV shows that shouldn't even be on TV.

Not to mention the Looney Left love to give out plea bargains and let the criminals go free which also encourages this kinda of thing.

Agreed.

For every video-taped one, how many happen that aren't taped?

In the past I made a hobby out of chatting with homeless people, esp. in the LA area, about their lives and lives, hardships, and ways of dealing with it. They said its not terribly uncommon for them to be randomly targeted by drunk violent ********.

Didn't you just finish saying this had nothing to do with politics, LOL!!

You guys are so predictable-- follow up one cheap shot with one from the opposite camp, and you guys chin yourselves on your monitors with... more cheap shots designed to 'defend the honor' of the conservative movement, LOL.

Frankly, I'm surprised this show wasn't a Fox network production. I stopped watching TV years ago when it became polluted with this kind of dreck and stuff like Trump's The Apprentice.

You opened the political door, I just walked through it.

Honestly I am sick of how the Left always wants to cut criminals a break, give lighter sentances, abolish the death penalty, dont want to hurt the criminals feelings etc. I see and deal with it on a daily basis and it is BS and encourages this type of behavior.

No, it's an issue of politics as well. When you get a good Law Enforcement official who is tough on crime like Sheriff Joe Arpio the left will blast him for being racist, inhumane, being insensative to the poor criminals feelings etc. It's stupid.

It takes some really SICK people do to this to another human being. They got let off light. The 17 year old was released that night on a Misd. Charge! He should have been charged as an adult and had serious charges on him.

They were light on the other guy to. They could have had them BOTH with Robbery on top of the other charges as well as quite a few other charges which the Robbery alone is a very SERIOUS charge.

I get sick even thinking about the poor guy thinking they are sorry and want to hug him and when he tries to they beat on him even more!

its not an issue of politics, this had nothing to do with what race someone is, this was just vicious

sometimes race does play a part, which makes it political, this isnt one of those cases

It does, but going too far in the other direction (cutting off a theifs hand?) would not be good either.

I wonder if you guys are using the word 'politics' in different ways. I see this as issue with political aspects, and aspects that transcend politics.
