Sounds like you are making headway. Great going. A food journal or just a journal can help a lot to know yourself and when you are stressing out.

The mention of correcting sleep problems is VIP. And not giving up because occassionally you have a "bad" day; you didn't gain it in a day and neither will you loose it that way.

Pennys tip for the day . . . Make a small change in your eating habit each day. If your faced with having to eat fast food . . .ditch the burger and fries and opt for a salad. :)

Great tip...just be mindful to READ THOSE CALORIE TABLES because the salads pack a lot of calories into add-ins and dressings. Still...veggie choices are good for you in so many ways!

YAY, PENNY!

July 25th. One day at a time!
You go, girl!

My fast food "tricks"... At Wendy's order a sour cream and chive baked potato...Ask for a packet of fat free Ranch dressing, use it in place of the sour cream or order a small chili and pour over baked potato....When a burger is the ONLY thing that will satisfy, order a junior size w/o cheese.....forget the sweet tea and soda and ask for ice water....grilled chicken sandwhiches only, never breaded.....At Taco Bell, order a Meximelt and one regular taco....Arby's stick with a regular roast beef sandwich...Micky D's for breakfast try their fruit and yogert Parfait....

I  U Penny......flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou Please don't turn into a fish!!

Hey everyone. Most of you know me but for those of you who don't . . .Im Penny :).
As of last week I started a Dr. supervised diet. I also gave increased the amount that I exercise.
I am morbidity obease and desperately want to be healthier. My Dr is lookingvinto getting weight loss surgery approved for me. but that takes time and any weight I loose before surgery will help my to recover better . SO . .
Im starting this thread to get support.and give support to anyone else who is trying to loose weight.
please feel free to share healthy recipes, dieting tips, weight m.ore goals and accomplishments and if you get discouraged let me know I'm awesome at pep talks .
Today is June 22,2012 and I weigh 404 pounds I am on a 1500 calorie a day diet and I swim 3 or more times a week for exercise.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. :)

Best of luck but remember, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. I heartily recommend Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto. It deals with important aspects like creating goals, food composition, exercise types and so on. Keep up the good work!

Go Penny!

I have come to love my chopped salad! I use plain balsamic vinegar
without any oil and chopped hard boiled egg whites and or some
pieces of salmon for a little extra protein.

Salmon if you happen to like it is a great source of protein during
weight loss. Not fried but just baked and lightly seasoned.

Talk also to some people who have had successful weight loss
surgery as a good source of support and encouragement. It can be
done and it can really be life changing.

Keep up the good work!!

Crapola Slo, lets have a little flavor on the salad...laugh laugh Penny use Romaine lettuce, more flavor and tons of nutritional valuehappy Put anything and everything in your salad...Diced apples, a few walnuts or almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, a few raisins or cranraisins won't kill the calorie count....beans for protien, season with lots of herbs.....Use a lot of balsamic and a little "light" olive oil, sweeten with one packet of splenda....Bon appetit!!!....

An interesting article that came out today.

Low-carb diet burns the most calories in small study

Findings, published in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association: Participants burned about 300 calories more a day on a low-carb diet than they did on a low-fat diet. "That's the amount you'd burn off in an hour of moderate intensity physical activity without lifting a finger," says senior author David Ludwig, director of the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center at Boston Children's Hospital.

Having positive thoughts to start the day before working out is vital. This is where the patience comes in even if we don't see the results as fast as we want. A woman's weight loss system is a lot more complex than a male's. We have a lot more hurdles to jump after than they do. The important thing to know is to KEEP at it. Results are bound to happen before we know it. Swimming is the best way to lose weight as far as cardio goes. AND its fun too! When I was on the swim team I was the slimmest I'd ever been, but healthy. I am SO proud of you gurl! Keep at it! bigsmile
