I didn't watch the convention myself. It would have made me hurl and get really sick. I'm not going to watch the democratic one either.

I watch the Daily Show for his comments.

The political game has gotten to be totally absurd and phony. I can't stand it.

laugh I hear you Jean...I watch it for entertainment value mostly...It's almost as good as the Oscar Awards...Lot of comedy....

Massie on Michelle's speech, Sept.6, 2012...

Michelle’s Outrageous Speech

Michelle Obama was either lying or delusional, or perhaps members of her family were being held hostage, and she was forced to make the outrageous claims she made in her convention speech. Whichever one or all–for people willing to weigh substance and truth over theatrical performance, half-truths and outright lies–her speech was nothing more than an attempt to live the privileged life four more years at the taxpayers’ expense.
Her statement that, “being president doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are,” was probably the only purely truthful thing she said all evening. Many of those who voted for him in 2008, based on his nebulous promise of hope and change, have now changed their support to “it’s time to exchange him.”
I know that my observations and comments will be criticized by those who worship at the foot of Obama’s throne, but that makes them no less true. When her speech is critiqued against the actual facts, it is as vacuous and misleading as his promise of hope and change was.

She said: “Barack knows what it means when a family struggles.” Exactly what struggles did the Obamas have? His grandparents provided a life for him that was absent the real-life struggles many of us had to endure. And, contrary to what they both have said, he inherited nearly $500,000 in bank stocks from his family. They attended the best schools on scholarships. They were adopted into an elite law firm and Bill Ayers’ father was always lurking behind the scenes lending support. They cam into office worth approximately $4 million, and according to Michelle’s mother, they are now buying a $35 million dollar estate in Hawaii. And did I mention that they were able to purchase their Chicago home because of the Chicago gangster Tony Rezko?
So, just how much do they have in common with people who have truly struggled? They’ve lived the American Dream alright, but her husband has cursed and condemned those who have actually worked to achieve the American Dream.
She said, “[Obama] wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we’re from, or what we look like, or who we love.” Perhaps because of their Neo-Leninist philosophy it has escaped her, but we already have that opportunity. Just ask Mark Zuckerman the creator/founder of Facebook. Just ask every person who was the first person in their family to attend college and then went on to start successful businesses–that her husband told them “they didn’t build.”

Ask the millions of people who are coming here illegally, why they are coming here. They will tell you they are coming here for opportunity that doesn’t exist in their countries. Her idea of achieving the American Dream is the same as her husband’s–it is predicated upon the government; America wasn’t built upon the government it was built upon the backs of exceptional men and women who believed in their inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as provided them by their Creator.
They are the ones who believe those inalienable rights should be dictated by government fiat. It was her husband who promised “to fundamentally change” America. It was she who said she was ashamed of America her entire life, and that only changed when he had won the election.
She said, “Barack has fought so hard to increase student aid and keep interest rates down because he wants every young person to fulfill their promise and be able to attend college without a mountain of debt.” I’m wondering if the people applauding that line actually understood what they were hearing. There are now more than 23 million Americans unemployed and people are graduating from college with no hope of a job commensurate with their degrees.
Going to college for the sake of going to college isn’t the answer to success. In many, if not most, instances today graduating from college, with no job, and student loans, is tantamount to a pyrrhic accomplishment.
According to CNNMoney: “College seniors who took out loans to fund their college education owed an average of $25,250. (Average Student Loan Debt Tops $25,000; 11/3/11) Add to that that many college students graduate with credit card debt, and poor job prospects–and you tell me what Obama has done for them.
The only ones truly profiting from government-backed student loans are the colleges and universities because their money is guaranteed. It is the graduates who are in debt, not knowing how they will pay it off. I wonder how many of the people, applauding that part of her speech, stopped to ask–if things are so rosy, why are so many college graduates living at home? How many of those applauding remembered her telling students that they shouldn’t seek high-paying corporate jobs, or jobs as doctors and lawyers, but that they should seek jobs as social workers and teachers.
I know that my observations and comments will be criticized by those who worship at the foot of Obama’s throne, but that makes them no less true. When her speech is critiqued against the actual facts, it is as vacuous and misleading as his promise of hope and change was.
A Sunday New York Times front page story was just as critical of Obama. The article written by Jodi Kantor said that Obama vastly overrates his capabilities and that he spends extraordinary amounts of time and energy to compete in–trivialities. (SEE: The Competitor in Chief; 9/3/12) Kantor’s article paints a chilling portrait of a man who is unfocused and lost. It is the portrait of a man who spends a lot of time practicing golf, his bowling, three-point shots–and of a man who believes he is smarter than everyone around him and spares no one his telling them said is the case.
But, just as was the case with his wife’s speech, nothing could be further from the truth.

the 500000 in stocks came from his grandmothers DEATH in 2008, well after they were both already established

their ADULT lives are what they WORKED towards for a few decades

that they have earned their lifestyle in adulthood doesnt alter their experience with struggle getting there,,,

Obamas grandparents took him in when he was TEN, more than half of his PRE adult years,

prior to that he lived with his MOTHER in INDONESIA where the average income TODAY is 3000 per year

he was far from PRIVILEGED and he did have experience with people who STRUGGLED

he was supported from 10- maybe 20 by grandparents and then lived the COLLEGE life supporting himself,, again not the privileged politicians son treatment,,,,

that people keep nitpicking brief periods of his life where the ADULTS responsible for him were 'prosperous' to negate the experience he has had with struggle the MAJORITY of his life,,,is beyond me

From Michelle's Speech...

“When it comes to rebuilding our economy, Barack is thinking about folks like my dad — who worked at a municipal water plant — and his own grandmother, a bank secretary,” the first lady said.

Hmmmm…either Michelle Obama is unaware of the well known history of her husband’s grandmother – or she is purposely misleading the American public with her description of Barack Obama’s grandmother as “bank secretary”. Madelyn Dunham, the Obama matriarch whose home Barack Obama moved into full time by the time he was in 5th grade and where he would reside until graduating high school some eight years later, was far more than a mere “bank secretary” as described by Michelle Obama. Madelyn Dunham was in fact a bank vice president by the time young Barack moved into her home.

its clear she is a commentator,, the way she repeats gossip and lies and unproven/unprovable statements as if they are fact,,,

she should see a dentist to make sure all that kool aid she drank hasnt caused cavities,,,

I particularly like this line

"Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation, and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement - while America's people go homeless, hungry and unemployed."

ashamed of America her entire life (as if she knows much at all about Ms OBamas feelings besides one statement taken far to the extreme)

failed policies (Except bringing troops out of iraq, stopping the hemorrhaging of jobs, ridding the world of Osama, and finally passing the HEALTHCARE That even republicans like Romney supported until Obama proposed it,,,lol)

intimidation (yeah, thats why he has used his veto TWICE)

commonality not witnessed hitherto ( I guess she wants to show she can use big words,,,considering the next line)

he and his wife view their life as an entitlement (excuse me, but he and his WIFE already were living quite well without the white house, and without the oversized and distorted magnifiying glass applied to theirs and their childrens life), both being lawyers and he already being a politician)

this is one of those ladies who fits the definition of a black person who can be racist,,,,nothing she CLAIMS that is true is unique to this president at all and the rest that hasnt been proven she is all too eager to believe

Perception is subjective, but we are off topic...So to get back to topic, here is Massie on September 5, 2012...

The Obamas Ignoring Real Issues

With over 23 million Americans unemployed, 48 million Americans on food stamps, nearly 1 million Americans no longer looking for employment, and nearly 9 million Americans having left the labor force–Obama and his Democrat Party platform will place their emphasis on abortion rights, immigration, and homosexual marriage.
I can appreciate that Obama desires to discuss his epic economic failure about as much as he would like to discuss his relationship with Frank Marshall Davis and Larry Sinclair.

short of ending all restrictions on immigration, there’s not much left that Obama hasn’t done to reward illegal aliens, despite what Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder would have us believe.

It’s easier to get an abortion in this country than it is to get a 20-ounce Coke in a restaurant in New York. What issues pursuant to abortion on demand exist today?
Abortion should be a state’s rights issue, anyway. It should never have been the purview of the federal government and Congress. That said, even praying that day will come, does anyone reasonably believe Congress will act to end abortion? As a side note, since abortion is one of the planks of his convention–maybe Democrats should invite Melissa Ohden to address their convention. She is the born-alive survivor of abortion. She could tell them why Obama’s singularly dogged commitment to let born-alive, aborted babies die is one of the most barbaric, after abortion, acts there is.
While in Chicago, Obama vigorously opposed SB 1093, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. He also strenuously fought against HB383 and SB230 the anti-partial-birth abortion bills. He bitterly opposed SB1095, which would create a cause of action for harm or neglect that comes to a child “born-alive” after a labor-induced abortion. And he opposed SB1661, which was part of the “Abortion Alive Protection Act,” which created the “Induced Birth Infant Liability Act.” I’m sure Melissa Ohden could lend a point of view on abortion, and Obama’s pernicious support of the vilest forms of murdering unborn children, that those in attendance could benefit from.
And short of ending all restrictions on immigration, there’s not much left that Obama hasn’t done to reward illegal aliens, despite what Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder would have us believe.
And as long as California exists, illegal aliens and same-sex marriage will each have a home. Because, despite the citizenry of California exercising their Constitutional right to pass ballot referendum after referendum outlawing same-sex-marriage, homosexuals are able to find homosexual judges willing to overturn the decision of 60 percent of the state’s citizenry.
Which brings us back to my earlier comment. The only reason to make abortion, immigration, and homosexual marriage his party’s platform is he must align himself with those who truly are outside the mainstream, lest the focus be centered solely on his abysmal record.
But Michelle Obama, who has spent the past four years writhing about on the sets of late-night shows such as Ellen DeGeneres and behaving as the exercise equivalent of Cosmo Prower Tomahak’s Shenzi, told Parade Magazine that for her second season as First Lady she wants to “impact the nature of food in grocery stores.” Her goal being to dictate to free-market, privately owned businesses, which her husband says the owners didn’t build, that they are to cut sugar, fat, and salt.
That might be a noble effort in her jaundiced mind, but I submit that we don’t need the person of whom it was said by a television chef that they had never witnessed any woman eat like her, to dictate what we should or shouldn’t eat. And, until the time comes that she owns a grocery store, it is none of her business what the stores have on the shelves. Specific to that point, the only time she sees the inside of a grocery store is for a photo-op.
If, as she would like for people to believe, this woman whose photo history as First Lady is one of tacky dress and gluttony, was really concerned about the welfare of people and specifically children, she would focus on something of real value. Something that could actually be of benefit to those being harmed.
Let’s start with the trafficking of children into the sex-slave industry. According to US Department of Health and Human Services, US Department Of Justice: Free the Slaves, 46 percent of human trafficking in the United States is for the purpose of prostitution. The estimated number of people trafficked into the US each year is 18,000-20,000: children account for 50 percent of these people. East Asia/Pacific is the region that is the largest source of people who are trafficked in the US each year.
In November, 2010, while Madame Obama was doing her Shenzi of the jungle jumping-jacks act and dictating to restaurants how to apply their trade, 884 people were arrested in child prostitution rings. Child sexual slavery is an epidemic that goes about its business more quietly than high blood pressure.
Your neighbor and/or your pastor could be involved in the sexual exploitation of children. Why doesn’t Madame Obama work to end children being sold from one person/group to another for sexual satisfaction? Why doesn’t she speak out about 10-12 year-old little girls being forced to engage in sexual acts with men and women many times their age? Why doesn’t she speak out about 14-15 year-old little girls being beaten, starved, hooked on drugs and then being locked in basements where they are forced to sexually service sometimes 30 or more men a day?
Maybe Madame Obama isn’t quiet about it at all as we would understand it. Maybe she just doesn’t give a damn–after all, they’re not her daughters. Her daughters travel around the world with their friends and an armada of secret service–and Obama himself has repeatedly referenced how he wants his daughters to be able to have access to abortion and anti-birth drugs.
I’m guessing the reason she is silent on the subject is she has no more regard for the life of children than her husband does.

lol

Im guessing maybe because it is already ILLEGAL to prostitute children

there are 73,900,000 children in the US http://www.childstats.gov/americaschildren/tables/pop1.asp

and although 10000 children (roughly 1 in 7000) are being ILLEGALLY trafficked

17% (roughly 1 in 5) are suffering obesity

,,,but the trafficking, which is ALREADY ILLEGAL, is a much more REAL issue I guess

Obama will receive my vote, no doubt about it. Progress has been slow, so far, but it's still progress, and I certainly don't want government sticking its nose in the private affairs of individual citizens.

By the way, if Mary Matalin can be married to James Carville, then I certainly can put aside political differences in order to have a warm relationship with someone who does not agree with my political view.

Oh, in case you are wondering, I'm a moderate registered independent.

Massie September 7, 2012

I don’t know what or who a “Larry L. whose email is texahome@gmail.com” is but “it” wrote me the following earlier this morning: “You should be ashamed of yourself making a statement about the Obama’s such as you did. There is no basis or facts to base such a statement. You are only about ratings. You sir a disgrace to the black race. You are the racist. You are nothing but a black Rush Limbaugh. And no I didn’t vote for Obama in 2008. But I damn sure going to this time. People with loud mouths like yours are driving me to vote for him this year.”
Poor Larry is emblematic of those who support Obama. His attack is as poorly delivered and without substance as Obama’s speech was last night.
His has been the greatest lack of leadership we can point to, certainly in my lifetime. He was elected to lead, but instead he golfed and blamed Bush, as his wife spent taxpayer money and enjoyed lavish vacations

Charles Krauthammer said that, “[Obama] gave one of the emptiest speeches I’ve ever heard on a national stage…There was nothing in it. This is a man who believes that government can and should do a lot…And he pulls numbers out of a hat: 100,000 new math and science teachers, 600,000 more people working in natural gas, and two million more trainees…[but] as we heard, he didn’t speak about achievements, the one that liberals like, [e.g.,] Obamacare, stimulus, and etc…they’re unpopular.”
Obama incredulously said that Romney and the Republicans don’t want us to know what their plan was. That said, we need not ask Obama what his plan is for the future. His plan for America hasn’t changed since he took office–it is as he told his assembled minions in 2004: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” His objective, if reelected, will be to complete that task.
His has been the greatest lack of leadership we can point to, certainly in my lifetime. He was elected to lead, but instead he golfed and blamed Bush, as his wife spent taxpayer money and enjoyed lavish vacations.
As Krauthammer pointed out, Obama now promises to create jobs. My question is why didn’t he create jobs in his first term? Why did he ignore the economy in favor of increasing the debt through the expansion of government? If he was willing to ignore the increasing joblessness of the American people for four years, why should we believe he will suddenly shift course if reelected and without another election to be concerned about?
Now he is attempting to make a case for another term. He claims that things were worse than they imagined, but he omits that his “shovel ready jobs weren’t so shovel ready” as he laughingly told an audience. He omits that there are now 88,891,000 not in the labor force. He didn’t mention that the true unemployment number is 14.9 percent. Obama didn’t mention that the jobs report showed another 368,000 dropped out of the employment search. He failed to mention that gasoline prices are now averaging $3.82 gallon but were $1.84 per gallon when he took office and that high fuel prices are the greatest source of discomfort to those already suffering because high fuel prices cause the price of everything else to increase.
Obama didn’t mention that when he took office the national debt was $10.6 trillion and today on his watch in roughly three and a half years, it is $16.4 trillion. He did not mention that nearly 50 million people are now on food stamps on his watch. Nor did he mention that median income is down an average of $4,000 annually.
