I love Sci-fi. Stargate SG-1 is one of my favorite shows. The original movie is one of my all time favorites.

Absolutely loved the movie and I am still waiting for a sequel!
Hated the series; reminded me of the juvenile antics of the old A Team show...

Good heavens, yes I'm a Stargate fan! I even *gasp* write SG-1 fanfiction... it's my dirty little secret... something to do when my Muse isn't being terribly helpful to me on my original scifi writing.

I'll just leave this here, in case anyone's interested:

http://www.anaslakeside.com/ATWLB.html

It's the story of what happens to a character we only saw once in the series, beginning immediately after the end of the episode we saw him in. What happens to him has repercussions back at the SGC. If you're at all familiar with the concept of "the hero's journey" that's what I've built this story upon.

i'm not sure which person this is... the one that was sucked threw the stargate when they couldn't close the stargate as the planet was being sucked into the black hole, or someone that was on the planet itself, who they were trying to save...... i'm thinking it was jacks war buudy, who he was mad at at the time...

You're exactly correct. Frank Cromwell was Jack's old friend whom he hadn't seen in several years, not since the (first) Gulf War. I have a link in the left-hand sidebar to some work by another author who does (I think) a fantastic job giving Cromwell and O'Neill a backstory and detailing their friendship. Her work ends just before the episode "A Matter of Time" where we saw Cromwell. Mine begins just after that episode, with his awakening to find that he has in fact survived his trip through the wormhole when he hadn't expected to.

Oh... and the planet he's arrived on isn't the black hole planet (P3W-451) but rather the planet the gate 'skipped' to, P2A-870.

Yay! I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying writing it. (Yes, it's a work in progress, but the entire thing is essentially written, and I'm just uploading chapters as I polish and edit them.)

The artwork, what there is of it, is also mine.

Thank you! I've been writing original scifi for decades, but something about this particular character always made me think he'd deserved more, and my Muse agreed. So fanfic has become something I use as a 'laboratory' where I can experiment with elements of technique and get reader feedback. What I learn from that goes into improving my original work.

one thing i noticed that i liked is that Daniel asked if they went to look for him... to me, he is the only one that would ask that question... so far, so good!

That was exactly my take on it. Everyone else was so busy thinking about other things, but Daniel has the human focus. So naturally, he'd be the one who would ask.

I was a huge fan, though I gotta admit it flagged at points and was dead on its feet by the end. I loved the original movie, but you can't really equate it with the series: if anything, the movie was a rough, convenient starting point for the series and very little more.

I must admit to still being bothered by the "how the hell does everyone on all these alien planets speak English (and with an American accent)?" question. Sure, it would have taken some creativity to get around this, but by ignoring it and just asking us to accept it, I felt the series started off by effectively insulting my intelligence.

That said, they got the characters right, at least. O'Neill developed along a path that was quite satisfying (even if Anderson became a pain-in-the-*** about him over time); Carter - well, how can any self-respecting sci-fi buff not fall in love with Carter? Daniel Jackson was a little bit of an annoyance, though he did lose the sneezing, the glasses, and the daft hair over he course of the various seasons. And Teal'c, well ... Indeed!

After seeing the early occasions when Daniel translated for SG-1, I quickly figured out that we were supposed to just infer that he still did that, only the show's makers couldn't really include that in each episode for every bit of dialogue because it would've eaten up too much screen time. I never thought they implied that everyone spoke English. That was just a conceit to cover what was actually translation without having to slow down the pace of the show.

Yes love it! I have every season on DVD except the 10th and the movies. It was one of my favorite shows of all time though I didn’t like the spin offs too much.
