I guess I DO go through a certain protocol before I speak out loud (at least a little bit more these days). I mean there's no reason why you should tell a man with a long skinny face that he looks like a horse or Abraham Lincoln.

Those who say things like (just 1 ie), "Yo! I speak my mind love it or hate it...but I keep it Rrrrreeeeaaaal!"......are feebly attempting to pre-exempt themselves from bad behavior.

I guess words are just too powerful to be careless with?

or...is it a dishonor to someone not to bring your full self forward?

"Yo! I speak my mind love it or hate it...but I keep it Rrrrreeeeaaaal!"......

This reminds me of the expression "Bull in a China shop"
There a certain amount of respect that everyone is entitled to.

I can be an absolute verbal savage to the bull, when it's doing the ChaCha in the same China shop I happen to be in.

There's a slogan a Newspaper uses here

"Words Matter"

How can choosing your words carefully by using self restraint and consideration for the diversity of those reading your post be a dishonor to anyone?...IMO the forums offer an excellent opportunity to "decide" based on what/how a person posts if you want to get to know that person off the boards...I think most here are quite capable of discerning when and why we "hold back" anyway...Give people some credit....Holding back and still being able to make your point is a sign of intelligence and good manners, not dishonor.....Using self restraint is most likely an example of WHO THE PERSON REALLY IS...Words do matter and they are a very effective means to an end...How others view us through our spoken or written words is something (one of the few things left) that we have total control over...That in itself tells you everything you need to know about the power of words....

Out of the realm of "posts" though.....and without the luxury of editing.......

Speaking my mind (and in the moment) has been embarrassing for sure at times, but has "MOSTLY" served me well. When not, it has been catastrophic!

It's such a slippery slope trying to believe in the merit of first instincts. The magic of people lays in this area. Some folks I LOVE how they "naturally" be who they are.

Others I feel may be better served by thinking (a little more) before they speak,

I agree that those who say they will speak their mind regardless are attempting to pre-excuse themselves for bad behavior. I also think they are all from Egypt .... living in de-nile heh heh

Words are very powerful.... Myself I think you should speak your mind but.....make sure how you word it. For one does not have to be harsh when speaking their mind. They can say things to the point they get their point over without being rude the way they say it...whoa

Normally if I edit my words here it is all due to I had to correct the way I said it thank goodness for spell check...bigsmile
