FORT WORTH -- A tow truck driver was shot in the early hours of New Year's Day Wednesday as he attempted to assist
three men who were stranded on South Freeway.

Fort Worth police spokesperson Sharron Neal said three intoxicated men were having car trouble in the 6800 block of the S. Freeway Service Road at 4:42 a.m.
Wednesday and called the tow truck.
When the driver arrived, he explained
only one person could ride in the cab of the tow truck and the other two
passengers could not sit in the vehicle
as it was being towed.

That upset one of the men, who pulled
out a gun and fired one shot at the tow
truck as it drove away. The shot hit the driver.

While on the way to the location, officers
saw two men walking northbound on the grass next to the service road and detained them for investigation.

As a result of the investigation, indifferent Shane
Crowson, 26, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly
weapon.

The tower driver was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.

I know this kid...the shooter. He is a good kid but never should mix with alcohol and meds

sometimes 'good' people do bad things?

And just who was the GOOD person who did the BAD thing?
Was the guy with the gun who shot the driver the good person doing the bad thing?
Or was it the driver who was the good person and stopping to help was a bad thing to do?

There was a BAD person who did a BAD thing IMO.

No. He wasn't a bad person. He did a terrible thing and should get punished for it.

Thankfully I read the driver is now in stable condition

according to someone here who knew him, the shooter was a 'good' person

he made a poor , probably alcohol fueled, decision

and now he will pay the consequences,,,

just my opinion that someone doesn't have to have a perfect history of no mistakes to be 'good' ,if there is such a thing

people are complex

If I didn't know him I would probably say the same as John. I get it. I do know I've never seen anything violent in him. If I ever needed him, he was always there. Heck...he called me mom.

I know he drank a lot and took meds that should never be mixed with alcohol.

It doesn't excuse what he did either

huh If that is what happens when you are shot by a good kid, then I'd hate to learn what happens when you are shot by a bad kid.

By the way, since when is a person age 26 a kid?

yellowrose10's photo
Fri 01/03/14 06:10 PM
I call him a kid because he is around my son's age...geesh

According to what I've heard from people that talked to the other guys there, it didn't happen that way.

Shane wasn't mad. They planned on waiting on the curb until a ride was coming that was on their way. He got the fun out of the trunk for protection. He was an idiot and fired a shot at the truck and hit the driver. The driver's brother, who was in the cab too was the one that saved him

Shane is an idiot for doing something stupid that could have killed a man. But according to the others, it wasn't because he was mad. It was because he was a drunk moron

I never condoned what he did. Heck I even said he deserved whatever punishment he got. He was an idiot. But I guess we have to see what comes out in trial. But YES he was a good guy. That is why we are shocked about it. He isn't a violent person. Just proves what drinking and drugs can do

There is a big difference between someone being nice to you and that same person being a good person. If doing what is right is secondary to doing what is self serving and best for yourself, you aren't a good person.

A lot of people liked, and trusted, Bernie Madoff because he seemed like a "nice guy" but he sure as hell isn't a good man.

My dad was always personable and people liked him, thought he was nice but the truth is he will lie to anyone, including his children, to make himself look like he is "good". I love the man but I don't lie to myself by thinking he's a "good" person just because he's my father. My ex-wife is very personable and seems nice but she will cheat, lie and do whatever is necessary to get what she wants.

Sometimes it's not easy to be honest with yourself and to look objectively at people you care about, especially when it's not you they have hurt.

Think I've been very objective. And no...it's not because he was nice to me. Give me some credit. I know the kid and know all about him

I think he deserves to be locked up . I also know he does have a good heart but did something very stupid that he will pay for

I'm not as gullible as some might think. If anything I'm suspicious of people

But people assume they know better based off of an article, which we know the media isn't always accurate.

We shall see what comes out at trial

Hmmm... How many frikken times does this need to happen for people to realize that carrying weapons around is a terrible recipe for bad judgement accidents?

Now 2 good people will pay a terrible price.

He's young and has a full life ahead of him.

Judge should make him apologize to the driver, 6 months probation and time at the range.

My guess, he was aiming for the car.

Good thang gun snatchin hosers don't run the show.

Apologize? Oooh the judge made me apologize for putting a hole in some hard working man who was there to help and almost denied his family, himself a normal and peaceful life. Seems fair...

The irresponsible lad shot at his own brother in the truck too as far as I'm concerned.
