I'm still new to this website and trying to figure out exactly how it works. So, Mingle sends me an e-mail saying I have a mutual match and I can send her a message. I message her and after a couple days, still no reply. What's up with that ? Is that the norm on this site ? If so, what's the sense in messaging a mutual match ? Anyone else experiencing the same thing ?

False. This site has worked for many of us. You get what you put into it, and you definitely won't get anything with that kind of attitude.

Just keep on sending her messages. If you don't get a reply, maybe she's not interested.

Dont take a 'no response' personally. Tis all about choices. I have learned most Mutual Matches look at my picture and 'match' from there... Not taking the time to actually read my profile and see that we, in fact, do not match.

I feel as you become more involved with the forums and develop friendships things will change on a positive note...flowerforyou

Eventhough the site thinks you are a mutual match; the person you email may not think so.

the site has nothing to do with matching you with someone, they only INFORM you when BOTH parties are interested in each other...you clicked yes on her photo and she clicked yes on yours....the reason why she hasn't replied yet, i don't know, but sometime people change their mind...i wouldn't worry about it...match with others you're attracted to...mutual match is just a tool for introductions.....best of luck on your search and welcome to mingle2

Thank you for your response. I do enjoy the forums and I'm slowly learning from all of you. When time permits, I read the posts here. I've already found that there are many nice, intelligent people on this site.

Patience :) Me and someone mutual matched a week or so before we actually started talking and it's been the BEST time ever since :)

I don't know if we'll ever meet up and date, but I'm holding on with eagle talons!

Maybe try writing again with just a "Hey, in case something happened and you didn't get my first message.. Just wanted to say hello." And say some random fact about yourself.

Well so far (and I've only been here less then a week)I have only dealt with a fraud, somebody wanting me to accept the 5 million dollar inheritance. NOT going to happen. but I figure at least I'll get to read some inter string stories.

What's up with that ?

What's up with that is you are buying into the advertising, the smoke and mirrors of online dating, believing anything other than your inbox is an important feature in finding someone to date.

You only have 3 opportunities with online dating.
When they email you.
When you email them.
And when you meet face to face.

Other than that, any mutual matching features is picking people at random, at best.

Is that the norm on this site ?

Yes.

If so, what's the sense in messaging a mutual match ?

Same reason people have good luck charms or Dumbo could fly with a magic feather.
The placebo effect boosting courage.

I've only been on site a few days myself. Mutual matches appear to come from you both ticking the yes box about liking the look of each other. Unfortunately, all you have is a picture to go on at this stage.
When the match becomes mutual, you can easily find and read the profile only to discover they live on the other side of the world. Bit pointless really as you can hardly nip over for a coffee to see if you like them face to face. So far I've had 3 mutual matches only one of them in same country but NOT in the same city.
