Five babies test positive for TB in El Paso

EL PASO — The number of newborns exposed to tuberculosis at an El Paso hospital has grown to 850 after additional 45 children were identified for testing.

The El Paso Department of Public Health said Saturday that five of the infants have tested positive, but none has an "active" TB case.

The number of children who may require testing could grow, health officials acknowledged.

"I don't wish this on anybody," said Claudia Renteria after her five-month-old daughter was tested. "I hope to God everything turns out well."

The mother and baby are among dozens who arrived at a clinic run by the El Paso Department of Public Health.

All of the babies that must be tested were born at Providence Memorial Hospital, where officials announced a "healthcare worker" tested positive for tuberculosis on August 18.

Providence Memorial Hospital is not providing any information about the worker — including that person's occupation — citing privacy laws. Forty-three other hospital employees who worked with the infected person are also getting tested.

Thank a liberal. Their loose laws allow untested pregnant illegals give birth in border town hospitals.

I'll make another prediction.

Gonna see lots of cases of polio.
