Here's all the Biblical passages I could find regarding blood transfusions:

http://www.openbible.info/topics/blood_transfusions

Most of them seem to center around the "eating of blood" and how it's forbidden; this one seems to suggest blood transfusions are beyond being simply acceptable:

John 15:13: "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

Many religious people, especially Evangelicals, believe their interpretation of The Bible is the only *right* way.

Sorta destroys the whole purpose FOR the Good Book, if ya think about it. Perhaps one's OWN reading of It, with a pure heart and open mind, will cause It to reveal Its message.

I'm slightly doubtful that they did blood transfusions,
back in biblical times.
The bible can be interpreted in whatever way the reader wants.

The misogynistic pigs who wrote the buybull didnt even know the processes behind a rainbow, so to follow anything they say is one of the most embarrassing things on mankinds resume.

Dedicated jehovahs witness will let their child die before getting a blood transfusion.

All because they are inspired by bronze age literature that somehow deluded mankind so much, we even swear on that vile trash.

Put a grown man wearing a dress from behind a pulpit in front of me, and watch the most spectacular display of emasculation, humiliation and recognition of the type of man the future wants to avoid

The urge to attack me will rage within him as the pain of each superior thought process courses through him like a painful virus

Billions may Not be brave enough to face the the most wicked invention in the history of mankind (religion) head on, but unfortunately for such invention, I am

I'm unaware of any other congregations other that Jehovah's Witnesses that go beyond the dietary prerequisite of not ingesting blood via a blood-transfusion. The reference that was quoted was probably at Acts: 15 verses 19+20. While it is a dietary prerequisite not to partake of blood for food purposes to Jews, Christians, and Moslems, Jehovah's Witnesses take it a step further with the belief that having blood infused into the body is just a detrimental. While blood-transfusions do have inherent problems there is nothing implying that the lesser of two evils is probably having the transfusion if it is a life-or-death situation.

Many years ago, I asked if this was a 'moral' issue to some J.W.s.
In reply they said, "Oh Yes!"
I then asked, "I understand all J.W.s are pacifists... But You will come to the rescue of someone who's calling for help, like for example their being raped or mugged?"
In reply they said, "Oh Yes... We can still physically over-come an offender, shy of killing him."
I then asked, "Will You then try to 'physically over-come' a medic or hospital staff from administering the blood-transfusion?"
In reply they said, "Oh No... The Society* has told us not to intervene as the legal process is not one their able to fore-go."
I then said, "I thought this was a 'moral' issue, but apparently championing this issue comes with a (mere monetary) price."

Society: The Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society (Whom J.W.s are more preoccupied with answering to any Divine-Being)

I try my best to follow the dietary laws. I find them very beneficial. I had to have a blood transfusion last year. I never have had a problem with it in an emergency. I believe on elective surgery that if you have time to have them store your own blood for you. That's what you should do. Makes sence to me.

I follow the rule of to choose life over death. If you do not have a transfusion then you will very possibly die. I believe you should choose Life. To let yourself or anyone else die to me is tempting Yahweh. He has given us the power to do it. So many things we have the power to do now that 100 years ago we did not. If all good comes from Yahweh then the advancement of Medicine is a Gift from Yahweh not a curse.

No is not biblical. Giving blood would essentially be giving part of your life to another to save theirs. And would fall into the category of -

John 15:13

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
