From the Associated Press: PARTY OF THE RICH: IN CONGRESS, IT'S THE DEMOCRATS

Republicans are the party of the rich, right? It's a label that has stuck for decades, and you're hearing it again as Democrats complain about GOP support for tax breaks that benefit corporations and wealthy individuals.

But in Congress, the wealthiest among us are more likely to be represented by a Democrat than a Republican. Of the 10 richest House districts, only two have Republican congressmen. Democrats claim the top six, sprinkled along the East and West coasts. Most are in overwhelmingly Democratic states like New York and California.

Hmm... how interesting.

the label is misleading

it should read the party of the 'wealthier' based upon the logic,, being that its comparing rich with rich,,,,

I would believe though that the people who complain the most about social programs are the same people unaware that their demographic gets most of it,,,

and I also believe republicans are the party FOR rich to keep power and money at the expense of enyone and everyone else

and democrats are a party for those who arent rich to have their basics and opportunities to BECOME part of the wealth the top caste hog and increase,,,,,year after year after year

Really? How much has Obama and Biden given to charity out of THEIR own pockets? Not very much compared to most Republicans. One year, 2007 or 2008 he only donated around $2,000 to charity.

lol,,,again a irrelevant comparison

on the issue of whether someone is rich or not,, their charitable contribution does not matter

on the issue of 'giving',, often people, most americans, live at or below their means,, whether they are charitable or not,,,,they use most of their income to pay bills on the lifestyle they live which generally reflects their income level

the percentage thing is a regurgitation of Huckabee rhetoric,, it is true of when his taxable income was below the quarter mill mark, but hasn't been since,,,,,,with contributions far exceeding what Christians set as a standard TITHE (10%)

and , coming back to the point,, when I speak about a 'party' of people, I refer to the GENERAL policies and behaviors and not every individual in it,,,,

Some people believe that President Obama was born in Kenya.

So, "belief" can contradict "fact".

well, its much easier to find factual information about something like WHERE SOMEONE WAS BORN,,,being that geography is fixed

than it is to determine what a PARTY PLATFORMs record indicates,,,,,

yet, I Stand by my BELIEF

In other words, it is easy to misinterpret a political party's platform, but not so easy to to get a person's place of birth wrong.

That latter part seems to go over the heads of birthers.

Used to believe the stereotypes until the bailouts hit a few years ago.

When one looks closely he/she would she that both parties cater to those who donate them the most money (who usually have the deep pockets).

Democrats just cunningly hide behind a curtain of "good intentions", thereby making them a bit more deceptive than the republican party.

there aren't absolutes with any demographic , except for those characteristics that define them as part of the demographic

I believe there is not much deception to be had by mature or educated adults,,, people want to keep their jobs,, they react when their pockets are threatened

this is no less true for politicians,,,,,their base is important to that goal,, keeping the interests of their base

as for me, the mouthpieces of republicans are generally less appealing in their views about the impoverished and minorities,,,

the preponderance of southerners and ruralites and millionaires,, also causes me to have a belief that they tend to be a bit 'out of touch',,, with the average joe/jill in the mainstream,,, and unconcerned too,,,

of course those are generalities, when we vote for politicians, we vote individuals and not parties (At least, I do) and I have voted across the political board for INDIVIDUALS in every party,, based upon how that INDIVIDUAL presented their views

being registered a democrat is a choice based upon the PARTY and how they present themselves,, but voting is not a responsibility I Take so broadly,,,,,,
