The Navy Reserve discharged Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter earlier this year after he tested positive for cocaine, according to a Wall Street Journal report posted Thursday.

According to the report, Hunter Biden, 44, failed a drug test in June 2013 before his discharge in February. Biden, who needed a waiver to join the Navy at 43, reportedly needed another waiver because of a drug-related issue at an earlier age.

Biden, who held a part-time position as a public affairs ensign, expressed deep regret and embarrassment for his actions. He currently works as managing partner of an investment company.

“I respect the Navy’s decision. With the love and support of my family, I’m moving forward,” he said in a statement.

The vice president’s office declined comment to The Wall Street Journal. It’s not clear whether Biden received an honorable discharge.

Mwahahahaha. What a moron. I guess it runs in the family, they are all bumbling idiots just like their father.

I am curious to see if he got an honorable discharge or not. If he didn't that means daddy and Uncle Barry had to pull some strings to get him taken care of.

In my opinion:

While I am certainly no fan of Joe Biden.

I do know that people get bounced out of the military ( and civilian jobs) every day due to drug abuse.

I have also seen some young people who I have felt came from families that did everything possible to bring their kids up right, make mistakes (like Biden's son) or take the " low road" in life.

I do not think that is always a reflection of parents skills or that parents should be looked down upon when this occurs.

Hopefully the Biden's will get their son the help he needs and help him get back on track and hopefully America will allow them to take care of a private family matter.

If it is found that " strings" were pulled , then America certainly has the right to know that and whoever responsibility would have to answer those charges. But to date, that does not appear to be a allegation

people are very unaware how common 'cocaine use' is , especially amongst more prominent circles,,,

it just doesn't get the press or prosecution that lower income drug use like weed and crack does

IT was an incredibly stupid move , especially at his age, and unfortunately not rare or unusual for his class of folk,,,,

it tends to cost more so be more of a drug for upper classes and be prosecuted and reported less,, not an ABSOLUTE< but generally

and people GENERALLY are fairly 'aware' of anything negative happening with lower income classes,,,,they hold a more favorable and positive view of the upper classes,,,

Actually the drug of choice is heroin from the inner cities to the most affluent suburbs. low cost.. high potency

regardless of the personal drug choice the problem is drug abuse..across any boundary
