This one was written for a dear friend...One bad choice ruined her life...Love you always and forever (((Jillie)))...

"Tomorrow's Promise"

She keeps tomorrow's promise stored
in the spare room of a troubled mind
Twisted thoughts make
love hate happiness sadness
impossible to discern...

Locked and bolted,
a patchwork of heavy metal doors
secures every entrance
ensuring even the most determined visitor
will not get close enough
to press a white oleander
against shatter proof glass...

The nightmare that refuses to sleep
gulps cloudy dregs from a well running dry
pausing only long enough to inhale oxygen
from a scant supply in the cubicle she calls home...

Hard rain beats down new growth
and breaks off tender buds
as it relentlessly washes away a frail foundation
of loose sand and looser sanity...

"What if's" play out to a mind bending beat
as limbic lyrics repeat defeat...

What if the water was crystal clear
and tears could flow like rain
What if block foundations had no
windows barred in shame...

What if libation's crutch was not
a river drowning sorrow
What if time was meaningless
and yesterday was still tomorrow...

What if she had not taken
the winding mountain road
What if she had not ventured out
or for the curve she'd slowed...

What if the hand of fate took leave,
just winged and flew away
Would not tomorrow's promise soar
in verisimilitude today...

Oh my...this sounds sooo hopeless. Wondering how and what type of pain could have done that much damage ? Terrible....

Hi ((((Maxi))))...Thank you for reading!flowerforyou

A very sad story indeed...My friend was driving drunk...The accident she caused resulted in the death of two people...She was found guilty of vehicular homicide...In Tennessee it's a class B felony that carries a mandatory sentence of not less than 8 years or more than 30 years...She was fined $20,000.00 and given a 10 year sentence....She is a good woman who made a terrible mistake:cry: ....Don't drink and drive people....

This one was written for the man who "had me at hello"...I will always love you!

Choices...

When first we spoke
I felt your spirit
hot upon my brow
T'was winter here
but colder there
where you stood
in the morning sun
wanting me...

I could hear the sweat
in your voice
taste the salt of it
on my quivering lips...

And though the
miles separated us
your warm caress
was more than enough
to satisfy my dream of you...

More than enough
to comfort me
when faint stars glowed
and lust revealed our story...

I'd rather have
the promise of you
than lay my head
on the chest of another
as he traces the curve
of my unyielding body...

For only your voice,
smoldering with thoughts of me,
can melt this cautious heart
Only your sigh,
incorrupt,
can wet my innermost desire...

Is it about me ? or am I "the guy" as you say "lay my head

This one is for you mama! ...Happy 91st birthday!...I love you so very much!

What We Keep...

I walked into the room
anticipating your smile...

My arrival startled you.
I sensed you reaching,
watched in horror as you struggled
to outrun confusion...

Blinking back tears
I approached your bedside
while reaching deep within for my own smile.
Tenderly, I embraced you...

Unable to resist,
I buried my face
in silky, snow capped hair.
Breathing in that familiar scent,
I felt your body relax.
I kissed your cheek and whispered,
"I love you mama"...

Gently pushing me away,
you cupped my face in
time worn hands
and forced me to look up...

With a practiced swish of thumbs,
you brushed away my tears...

Still unwilling to make eye contact,
I pulled back and lowered my head.
You sighed and made that familiar clucking sound.
I didn't have to look at you to know you were rolling your eyes...

Leaning in close,
you placed a cool, dry cheek against mine
and whispered back,
"I love you too child, now give us a smile"...

 ...Happy Valentine's Day Everyone...

I Want You...

I want to be the soft wind
That stirs your inner need
The dreams that you keep hidden
The earth that holds your seed...

I want to be the sunlight
That melts your frozen heart
And dries your silent tears
When day is turning dark...

I want to be the music
That soothes your tired back
And strokes away the pain and fear
Life lived alone begat...

I want to be your lover
The passion in your soul
The one who makes you hunger
The one who makes you whole...

I want you to lie with me
Beneath a star filled sky
Let me rock you in my cradle
Let me love you till I die...

In The Blink of an Eye...

So subtle at first,
I almost didn't notice
A whispered brush against my cheek
Cooling me...

Blinking my eyes
I hesitated for a moment
A shiver ran down my spine
My nipples responded...

I felt your eyes on me
but could not muster the courage
to look at you...

I knew if I did you would know...

Seconds seemed like hours
As the cool air caressing my cheek began to burn...

Flushed, erect under a thin cotton shirt,
I struggled for control
I was sure I would lose it if you moved
Or spoke...

Then the unexpected happened...

A gust of wind caught me off guard
I looked up at you from beneath a sweep of tangled hair
Admiring eyes with just a hint of amusement in them met mine
And changed everything...
