Would Martin Luther King, Jr. have any respect for what Obama has done to race relations in this country?

I think not. Glad he's not alive to see this......

I think MLK Jr. would certainly make the time to smack the living hell out of Al Sharpton

MLK would have GREAT respect for what Obama has done IN SPITE Of the obstacles and resistance (things very familiar to MLK) he faces,,,

MLK would even have respect for Sharpton, and what he has done by being a voice that can bring certain otherwise 'non mainstream' issues to the mainstream

I respectfully and totally disagree with you. Again. I'm pretty sure MLK would be weeping at how far Obama has set us back. And Sharpton? He wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry about that idiot....

MLK's downfall was Jesse Jackson.

I believe it's called "Polarization". Did I spell that right?

Is that all black people want? Is equal rights? Because they have that, and race relations are the poorest they have ever been in this country. Obama had the chance to really unite our country as the first black president. Sadly, he has divided it even more.

How can you respect what he has done? I don't even understand?

actually, there is still quite a bit of unequal rights

race relations is no poorer than ever, there is just more media to bring it to the attention of those who had no need to concern themselves with it before

there was no way Obama could unite the RACES,, no president has

but the question was , how has he set it back?

he has 'set it back' no more or less than any of the dozens of white presidents before him,,(Except maybe Lincoln,,lol)

you don't need to understand, because you aren't a black person, and I don't say that as an insult

it would be like me asking a man what the president has done to help MEN specifically,,lol

how would I know,, it doesn't really affect me as a FEMALE,,,why would I notice? why would I truly be noticing or seeking to find those instances?

but I understand that just BEING the first 'black' man , overseeing the brink of another great recession, tackling all the obstructions and threats, keeping his family intact, reaching out to other countries, reaching out to gay community,

he has done much in plenty of underserved communities,, but I understand that when it doesn't make primetime news, it means to many that its not happening,,,

and that's something MLK would respect

that he had a greater expectation placed on him merely because he was black,, and that he persevered anyway,,

I don't need to understand, because I'm not a black person? Do you know how racist you sound? Do you claim to not be a racist, msharmony? Or are you just a hypocrite?

(That's ALL this country needs is to "reach out" to the gay community)...lol....happy

I explained that

the same way its expected for me, as a female, to not necessarily understand or know what a male president has done for MALES specifically

its expected for a white person to not necessarily understand or know what a BLACK president has done for BLACKS specifically

or for the 'equal rights' they seek
