I have tried it, respectfully, and if I want to get slapped maced or stunned I'll call the cops. I find most of my dates on the calendar. Fishing for dates at parks, grocery stores malls etc isn't feasible for women under say 40 or so without kids. If you don't do the bar club party scene, or those types, there's always crickets...

A woman can find a date anywhere.

I tend to agree with this." A date", yes, " A sex partner " yes. Someone you would want to keep around more than 90 days or introduce to your male relatives ?.. not likely...
After all, where do men who cheat, meet these 'other women'? .
. ...everywhere.

For all women..
Steve Harvey has a book, & it is also a funny movie, " Act like a lady, think like a man " * I don't think most women can, unless they are taught to, because they have been taught not to * Great book.

My only advice would be " Go to where the men are ". Where they work, car shows etc.. Some where they are enjoying themselves. If you don't know these ' guy things'... learn it. It is preferable than just waiting for 'the right one' to just show up.IMO

My friend told me the grocery store is a good place to pick up dates. Do you agree?

Anywhere there are other people is a "good" place to pick up dates.
Grocery stores.
Weddings.
Funerals.
Home depot.
Doctors office.
AA.
Whatever.

It doesn't really matter.

If people try to pick you up at the grocery store and fail they are probably going to fail at picking you up at any other venue.

As someone else typed there is no magical pick up place, where people have magic pick up skills.

Do you plan on looking your best when you go to the grocery store?

I try to manage a certain level of presentability no matter where I go.
It's simple common courtesy and social camouflage to make navigating through life easier.

Do you practice your pick up lines before you go to the grocery store?

I've found it's better to practice wit, thinking, and imagination at all times, just for basic conversation skills.
Pick up lines seem disrespectful. No different than spamming first contact letters on an online dating site.

Has anyone had any luck?

Luck has nothing to do with it.
It's all motivation and ability; for conversation and to overcome fear.

Seriously, there is a different caliber and skill traits to consider in men from the grocery store compared to the Hardware store.

I have dated at least a couple of times after meeting in a grocery store. Why not? I keep an open mind wherever I go.

Nothing better than thumping melons together in the fresh foods aisle with a new friend.

I happen to live in a small town. It's hard to meet someone anywhere. Most guys are already married or in a relationship.
