Donald Trump set off a firestorm with comments on immigration
Supporters praise Trump as a straight-talker
Bedford, New Hampshire (CNN)Perched on a platform in a backyard where a few hundred supporters gathered around a swimming pool, Donald Trump shuffled a stack of papers and began shouting over a loudspeaker about rape.

"Eighty percent of Central American girls and women are raped crossing into the United States!" Trump boomed into the microphone Tuesday evening as he read from a printed news story in his hand. He held up the papers. "I have hundreds of these articles. Hundreds."

"The American Dream is dead!" he continued, the sound of his voice slicing through the quiet afternoon air. "But I'm going to make it bigger, and better and stronger than ever before."

Trump, the real estate mogul turned Republican presidential candidate, has, for the time being, captured the hearts and minds—or at least the attention--of GOP primary voters. A CNN/ORC national poll released Wednesday found Trump in second place behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the crowded field of Republicans seeking the White House.

Since announcing his campaign in June, Trump has attracted even more than his usual amount of controversy, particularly for comments he made in his announcement in which he called immigrants "rapists" and murderers. The remarks prompted Macy's to drop Trump-related merchandise on Wednesday. Univision decided earlier to pull out from an agreement to broadcast Trump's upcoming "Miss USA" pageant and NBCUniversal to drop him as one of their paid television personalities.

But while those comments may have complicated Trump's financial relationships with media organizations, his bombastic style is precisely what draws his fans to support his White House campaign.

At the poolside gathering where Trump spoke, several supporters told CNN the same thing: They like him precisely because he says those things about immigrants — and no one else will.

"I like his aggressive approach to save America. Not taking any bullsh--t from anybody," said Sally Bradbury from Merrimack. "Start taking our country back instead of letting people come in and control it."

Bradburry was seated on the pool's diving board next to her parents, including 89-year-old Frank Candelieri, a World War II veteran who said he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

"I like what he's saying. We need somebody who's aggressive," Candelieri told CNN. "No *****-footing around. He gets right to the point. We need somebody who's going to take the damn reins and ride it."

Other supporters said they're drawn to his bravado and tough talk about other countries, particularly regarding trade with China, a nation he mentions regularly in speeches.

"He's more into a-- kicking than a-- kissing," Helen DePrima told CNN.

Trump, who claims he's worth about $9 billion, has made a point to say that he will self-fund his campaign instead of seeking financial support from donors.

"He doesn't need anybody's money. He doesn't need lobbyists. He's a self-made billionaire," said Felicia Elias, who drove across the border from Massachusetts to see Trump speak. "He's a businessman, and we need a businessman. Or woman."

Unfortunately for other candidates wooing New Hampshire voters, Trump's call-it-as-he-sees-it style could easily suck oxygen away from their campaigns, particularly New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was holding his own New Hampshire townhall at the same time.

READ: Chris Christie tries to shed bully image in New Hampshire

So when given a choice between two so-called straight-talkers, why go with Trump over Christie?

"He's faltered too many times. He doesn't control his people. Look back at Bridgegate," said Bob Kollman, from Nashua. "Why someone took that liberty is beyond me."

Others said they were unimpressed by how he handled Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

"He hugged Obama," said Carl DePrima, referring to the time Christie greeted the president in the aftermath of the storm. (Christie has disputed the characterization of the as a "hug," but the narrative seems to have stuck.)

While Trump enjoys his high ranking in the polls here, Christie faces an uphill battle in the Granite State. A CNN/WMUR New Hampshire poll of primary voters found that just five percent of voters in the state planned to support Christie. The survey put Trump in second place behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 11%.

America Ferrera Thanks Donald Trump for
Energizing Latino Voters Against Ignorant Bigotry

July 2nd, 2015

It's a pathetic situation in America when the queasy combination of celebrities and politics can literally result in 'celebrity politicians' - carnival freak shows like Donald Trump whose name-brand recognition is enough to propel his ignorance to the top of U.S. presidential polls. There's of course no reason why passionate celebrity activists shouldn't use their intelligent involvement to raise awareness of social issues, as America Ferrera demonstrated so beautifully when she took part in the transformative Women's Rights documentary, Half the Sky (along with Diane Lane, Olivia Wilde, Nicole Kidman, Eva Mendes, Gabrielle Union and Meg Ryan). That, we applaud. Today America Ferrara made news with a blistering open letter to the GOP travesty called Donald Trump, thanking him for energizing Latino voters against the repulsive attitudes that he (and a weirdly large number of the Republican electorate) represent. She thanks him 'for reminding us that there remains an antiquated and endangered species of bigots in this country that we must continue to combat.'

**** her full letter ****>>>
Dear Donald,

You've said some pretty offensive things about Latino immigrants recently, and I think they're worth addressing. Because, you know, this is the United States of America, where I have a right to speak up even if I'm not a billionaire. Isn't that awesome?

Anyway, I heard what you said about the kind of people you think Latino immigrants are - people with problems, who bring drugs, crime and rape to America. While your comments are incredibly ignorant and racist, I don't want to spend my time chastising you. I'll leave that to your business partners like Univision and NBC, who have the power to scold you where it hurts. Instead, I'm writing to say thank you!

You see, what you just did with your straight talk was send more Latino voters to the polls than several registration rallies combined! Thank you for that. Here we are pounding the pavement to get American Latinos to the polls, while your tactic proves most effective. Remarks like yours will serve brilliantly to energize Latino voters and increase turnout on election day against you and any other candidate who runs on a platform of hateful rhetoric.

Do you know why that's such a big deal, Donald? Because Latinos are the largest, youngest and fastest-growing constituency in the United States of America. That's right! You are running for President in a country where the Latino population grew by over 49 percent from 2000-2012, while the rest of the country grew by 5.8 percent. What's more, we are the future. The median age of the average Latino is 27 years old, compared to 42 years old for white Americans. In case you need a translation, that means there are a whole lot of Americans who are Latino and have the right to vote. And, we're not going anywhere.

This is the America we are actually living in. I hope by now you understand that without the Latino vote, there is no chance of you ever winning this election. If you don't believe me, you could ask President Bush or you could even ask President Obama.

You, Mr. Trump, are living in an outdated fantasy of a bigoted America. Last week, America celebrated some amazing milestones - marriage equality, universal healthcare, removing of the confederate flag - making it clear in which direction the country is moving. That is why racist remarks that play to extremists won't change the tide, no matter how hard you try. They will only serve to rally more Latino voters to the polls. Your negativity and your poorly thought out speech ignited a fire in our community. Thank you, Mr. Trump!

Thank you for reminding us that there remains an antiquated and endangered species of bigots in this country that we must continue to combat. Thank you for reminding us to not sit complacently at home on election day, but to run to the polls and proclaim that there is no place for your brand of racial politicking in our government. Thank you for sending out the rallying cry.

You have made your thoughts on the Latino community clear and you continue to stand by them. And in return, we will do more than tweet about our indignation and beat pinatas of your likeness. We will silence you at the polls. We will vote and use our growing position in U.S. politics. Our fellow Americans who understand and value our contributions will join us. We know there is nothing that scares you more.

The truth is, Mr. Trump, that your comments mean that you fail to see that immigrants are what have made this nation. They are at the core of our ideals, and they are the foundation that keeps us afloat. No, Mr. Trump, you may not reduce us to drug dealers and rapists. We are moms and dads, sons and daughters. We are valedictorians and honor students. We are college graduates, bankers, police officers, entertainers, teachers, journalists, politicians and we are the future of America.

Thank you for helping us in our work to energize the Latino vote and to usher in our shared future! Keep it up!

Sincerely,
America

-----------------------------------------------------

what All Americans are concerned/ worried about illegal immigrants. ALL counties are. Illegal is illegal & CRIMINAL. No matter if they have a criminal background or not.

Trump has nothing to do with the price of bread or food. WTF ?

And do really think guys left Mexico carrying plasic jugs of water, sneak in the USA illegally have the education to build towers in an English foreign country? WTF ?

Mexico is a BOARDER country & that is why he mentioned them. And 26% of Illegal Aliens are Mexicans. And building a wall, has long been discussed & promised (including by Obama).

We can NOT afford to keep, house, educate & vacinate (another big concern), the illegal children we have now.

Our immigration laws are being violated & ignorned. Our whole American society & culture (yes we have one  ) is being threatened & turned upside down.

We certainly can NOT afford to borrow anymore money from CHINA (we owe almost TWO TRILLON).
So who is our landlord?
Who is paying for all these illegal aliens? Taxpayers.( And who are they? think , working middle class, natural born, or naturalize Americans or who have legal residency).. LAW BIDDING... & probably CHINA.

So YOU are talking about a FORIEGN country (USA) from YOURSELF and its immigration issues ( w/ Mexico & everyone else) that you know nothing about.

Well America writes a nice heartfelt letter. Moral outrage when it's under the banner of unenlightened self interest is never that impressive.

I did however notice the one statistic she presented, that the Latino population in a decade increased by 49%. Really? So either the birthrate has skyrocketed in the last 10 years, or she's counting the illegals as part of the population. Wonder which one it is?

I would agree with her that The Donald is not the most articulate and politically correct guy on the planet, however in the Latino community apparently the truth can be a touchy thing. Are ALL Latinos gang bangers, dope dealers, and hood rats? Of course not. Do many come to the U.S. to earn American dollars to take home? Of course. Do they do the jobs others are seemingly too proud to do? Sure. American history is replete with the woes of the Irish, Italians, and other minorities who emigrated, were marginalized at first, and became full fledged members of the society. The Latinos are simply going through the same societal vetting processes the others did. Seems they are in a hurry and don't think they should have to pass the test to get their piece of the pie.

Ask the justice system professionals in the southwest if Latinos are over represented in serious crime cases and they will say yes. Most is drug related. Kidnappings, shootings, beatings over drug deals and drug debts seem to top the list.

So in the end, the Latino community because of perceptions decides instead of launching a PR campaign to prove how good they are, they'll start a letter writing campaign to tell us how bad Helmet Hair is. Blame the white guy.....yeah it's gettin' a little stale.

As in the the thread title- "Mr Trump don't apologize." I'm posting a NEW article dated today. Because this reflects why Mr Trump & many Americans feel he should NOT apologize. And that his comments are not racial- but legal & moral concerns
(probably financial as well), and had a factual basis. This is one, new example.

The criminal - illegal alien/ immigrant, was DEPORTED FIVE TIMES BACK TO MEXICO, then returns to the USA & MURDERS ( randomly). And yes, ICE, The Department of Immigration etc. knew about him.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

Man arrested in connection with San Francisco killing had been deported several times, officials say

By Judson Berger

ICE: Suspect in deadly shooting had been deported five times
The man arrested in connection with the seemingly random killing of a woman who was out for a stroll with her father along the San Francisco waterfront is an illegal immigrant who previously had been deported five times, federal immigration officials say.

Further, Immigration and Customs Enforcement says San Francisco had him in their custody earlier this year but failed to notify ICE when he was released.

"DHS records indicate ICE lodged an immigration detainer on the subject at that time, requesting notification prior to his release so ICE officers could make arrangements to take custody. The detainer was not honored," ICE said in a statement Friday afternoon.

Kathryn Steinle was killed Wednesday evening at Pier 14 -- one of the busiest tourist destinations in the city.

Police said Thursday they arrested Francisco Sanchez in the shooting an hour after it occurred.

On Friday, ICE revealed their records indicate the individual has been previously deported five times, most recently in 2009, and is from Mexico.

"His criminal history includes seven prior felony convictions, four involving narcotics charges," ICE said in a statement.

ICE briefly had him in their custody in March after he had served his latest sentence for "felony re-entry," but turned him over to San Francisco police on an outstanding drug warrant. At this time, ICE issued the detainer -- effectively asking that he be turned back over to ICE when San Francisco was finished with him.

But ICE was not notified. The incident is sure to renew criticism of San Francisco's sanctuary city policies.

"Here's a jurisdiction that's not even honoring our detainer for someone who clearly is an egregious offender," an ICE official told FoxNews.com.

ICE has since lodged another immigration detainer against the individual, though it's unclear whether San Francisco will cooperate.

A representative with the police department has not yet responded to a request for comment from FoxNews.com.

Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak earlier said witnesses snapped photos of Sanchez immediately after the shooting and the images helped police make the arrest.

Liz Sullivan told the San Francisco Chronicle that her 32-year-old daughter turned to her father after she was shot and said she didn't feel well before collapsing.

"She just kept saying, 'Dad, help me, help me,'" Sullivan said. Her father reportedly tried to do CPR before she was rushed to the hospital.

The immigration detainer issued against the suspect earlier this year would have initiated the process of removing him from the U.S. once again.

"ICE places detainers on aliens arrested on criminal charges to ensure dangerous criminals are not released from prisons or jails into our communities," ICE said in the statement. "The agency remains committed to working collaboratively with its law enforcement partners to ensure the public's safety."

FoxNews.com's Adam Shaw and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Typical of liberal response and over reaction. They must be worried of his candidacy. Trump never said that he was against LEGAL immigration.
Illegals have a good thing going right now and don't want to lose it. Can't blame them to want to keep things as they are. Something that we have to change, however, is the "Anchor Baby" law.

I don't know if anyone saw the CNN report on Trump during the 6-7 PM EST show but it was interesting insofar as the editing used to demonize Trump.

They took his announcement speech where he made the comments about Mexicans being drug dealers and rapists and played with the focus. I watched the speech and as I recall it was a single shot of him at a lecturn reading his speech.

CNN took that shot and focused in tighter on his face with each word. So when he says 'drug dealer' the edit shows his face in about 40% of the screen, when he says 'rapist' it's like 80% of the screen! Then when he says "And I'm sure there are some nice ones." The shot bounces back to the original distance and perspective.

The edits are meant to show Trump as some kind of 'Dr. Evil' character. All that was missing was dramatic organ music and Vincent Price laughing in the background. I'll be curious to see if anyone in the media calls CNN out for its blatant bias here.

The panel discussion that followed revolved around why the rest of the GOP candidates had not yet commented on camera condemning Trumps' statements. Even though some had issued press releases, CNN seems to think it only means something when the candidate goes on camera.

Hmmmmm. When was the last Hillary 'camera moment' taking questions? About TWO WEEKS AGO!
