I just think committing an act such as this clearly indicates diminished mental capacity and thinking. No indication is needed, it is apparent.

that's not true

it indicates a lack of value for human life,,

that doesn't mean one is mentally ill,, just amoral/immoral

I agree,, but the former is preceded by the latter

and in this case, if there was no indicator or diagnosis before the incident that he has mental illness, there is no 'proof'

A sane individual does not walk into a school and massacre people. Something is getting into the minds of these individuals. They need to figure it out and get ahead of the game. Mental health facilities are there to help people.

otherwise sane people 'snap' all the time, albeit not to this extent

it still wouldn't be prevented in this case if there were no PREVIOUS indicators of a mental illness...

It seems to me that everyone should get mental health check ups like we get dental check ups or physicals. It funny how we get regular check ups for our physical body but never one for our brain which controls our body.

Again, we humans got it all @ss backwards.

might be a good idea, however thankfully its not mandated

I have spent most my years without insurance, until recently , so doctors aren't a regular part of my life,,,

There are no easy answers to the problem. But there are enough cases to study and draw conclusions from. I haven't reviewed all school shootings, but I'm sure there were some common indicators among these shooters; that people just missed.

We get the glossy version in the news. I'm sure the government has a thick file on each shooter and they need to do their job and come up with some viable solutions! This is a unique mental health crisis.

They need to figure it out and get ahead of the game. Mental health facilities are there to help people.
But the patient needs to get there and be evaluated in order to be helped. Many of the really nutty ones think they're okay, and the rest of the world is sick.

This was written about Seung-Hui Cho, the Virgina Tech shooter:
"No one who knew him seems surprised by what he did. On the contrary, dorm chatter characterized him explicitly as a future school-shooter. One of his professors, the poet Nikki Giovanni, saw him as a disruptive bully and kicked him out of her class. Other teachers viewed him as disturbed and referred him for the ubiquitous 'counseling' -- an outcome that is ambiguous to the point of meaninglessness and akin to 'treatment' for a patient with metastasized cancer.

But even that minimal care wasn't given. The shooter didn't want it and no one tried to force him to get it. While it's been reported that he was involuntarily committed to a 'Behavioral Health Center' in December 2005, those reports also say he was released the very next morning. Even if the will to segregate an obvious menace had been in place, the legal mechanisms to provide even temporary 'warehousing' were absent. The rest is terrible history."
The above was written in the Wall Street Journal in April 2007, by Dr. Jonathan Kellerman, a psychologist, professor, author and consultant/expert witness for the legal system. (I added the bold and italicized text.)

We don't need "gun control." We need better "nut control," so would-be killers can't use a knife, a car, fire, guns or anything else to harm other people.

From what I've heard about the shooter...

The tard, allegedly posted his plans and intent to kill, on a social media site. Nobody reported him.
Yep...on 4chan...even had other 'tards telling him how to make it as worse as possible...

"" Federal authorities are looking into a suspicious
thread on the anonymous message board
4chan that appears to include someone with
similar intentions to today's unnamed shooter
who killed at least 10 people in
Oregon, according to The New York Times . The
thread, archived here , shows an anonymous
user on 4chan board /r9k/ advising others,
"Don’t go to school tomorrow if you are in the
northwest," late in the day on September 30th.
The identity of the shooter who attacked
students this morning at Umpqua Community
College in Roseberg, Oregon, remains
unknown, though it is confirmed police shot
and killed the 20-year-old man.
It is not yet clear whether the anonymous
4chan user and the shooter are the same
person. 4chan has become well-known as a
haven for some of the worst behavior on the
internet. In fact, many users egged on the
original poster and some even gave him tips on
how to carry out a massacre. Following news
of the shooting, the thread takes a twisted turn
as participants realize the gravity of a potential
link between the group conversation and the
killings. Nonetheless, the nature of the site
makes quick verification near impossible.""

Same site that a year or so ago, a poster posted a thread about a woman he strangled...with pics of her dead body....poster was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder.

The shooter was not the guy from 4chan they were accusing.

The guy from 4chan is the one in the video I posted. The media found the video and pushed the disgruntled white loser narrative even after it was obvious he wasn't the shooter.

Because people believe untruths from repetitive themes.

Masss shooting
Crazy white man
Lastest for hours
Country is rivited
Left a trail of evidence
Reporters are involved
