How do we balance the doom and gloom and negativity that dominates and sells with the positive, and inspiring, and productive that gives value to life?

I remember one summer when it seemed like all news was reporting on young girls being abducted. If you had taken media coverage for accurate representation of reality, you would surely believe that we were in some type of child abduction crisis. In reality we had an all time low rate of abductions that year.

I say that to say that the media can give such a skewed reality, even when reporting things that are truthful or factual.

How many of us take the time to look for and at the positive and inspiring things to balance it out, how many of us research facts further than their sensational headline descriptions and edited content, and how many of us have found a home in seeking out, obsessing over, and defining reality only by the garbage and negative which is sold to us everyday?

This isn't to say there aren't terrible things happening in the world, but just to caution against taking in all that terrible stuff with no attempt to have a larger understanding beyond the terrible.

By choosing not to watch or read the doom and gloom and negativity, instead going out and being the positive, inspiring, and productive that gives value to life.

Trust Me; "The Mainstream Media" would love nothing more than to be able to distract questions from The Pesky American Public with "Happy-Happy-Joy Diversions", to avert Public Focus away from the very real issues that are happening, esp. In Politics.
The Media[Clinton Campaign ]has repeatedly done this as just recently with their idiotic assertion that The Sheriff Badge Shape used by Trump in one of his Anti-Clinton Tweets, was a derogatory antisemitic expression of his hatred of Jews because the shape of the badge resembled "The Star Of David" an important symbol of Judaism? Sick!

if people didn't take in so much and repeat it as fact and circulate it and recirculate its content , it wouldn't pay so many bills and they would show something different and report differently

That is a wonderful question, and it reaches across all aspects of society. Speculation, and conjecture seem to be common in our media, instead of simple facts. When news becomes steeped in opinion,it can distort the facts to fit specific agendas.
We have laws, law enforcement, judges, and juries that are supposed to be designed for the common good. All those in these positions should be highly screened, and qualified for their positions.
In my experience, there are many who are in their positions who are not qualified, and there are many who own firearms that are designed for specific purpose, who should not be qualified for ownership.
We are supposed to be a civil society, and we have become a society driven by emotional response, and distorted facts.

When we have broad focus we are blind to the fine focus
when we have fine focus we are blind to the broad view.
Change focus often!

When you are sure you know, doubt your knowledge and have another look.

Recognise our lust for certainty blinds us to the truth.
