Hi everyone,

What do you people think it's best?

Old technology versus mordern technology and why?

Old times versus today's new era?

What is the difference and what do you like best?

Thank you very much.

New technology is much better.
In the past, women had to spend way too much time washing clothes by hand.
Now instead they can spend that time cooking more, and taking better care of their man.

Hi Lu!

Well i love legacy gear..old tech, we used to call it analog. Analog is a dial watch, record player, vcr or an old film projector or even a slide projector.

New tech is good, but has a coldness to it. No soul. I recently cleaned some LPs or records with wood glue! It gets rid of the snap crakle and pops. You can adjust a vcr head to crystal clarity and a film projector will run forever as long as you have a bulb!
I have a 1957 Yashica 635 120 / 35mm camera. Quality crafted. My dad used it when he was in Vietnam. Ill never get rid of it. I have a pic of it in my profile pics!

Not to mention that we benefit from new technology because we get to laugh at Breaking Good (and people like him). In the past, they would have to limit their audience for their humor to whoever happened to be in the room.

I respect your opinion, Sir' but not everyone has a washing mashine these days, not to mention the fact they can't even afford one, think about it: there are still people in this world who wash their clothes by hand. Still.
Thank you for expressing your point of view. Have a nice evening.

Technology can, and does, do a lot of wonderful things. But it has also made us fat, lazy, and unable to understand how a lot of the things we now depend upon actually work, or how to fix them when they don't.

I think new technology has developed with a trend of helping people be lazier

I think it was better when we put more 'into' things that we want

when we had to get up and change channels, and stand until we found it

when we had to visit the kitchen several times to check on our food instead of just nuking it

when we had to get out the car, lift the garage door, drive in , get out and close it

when we had to leave voice messages if someone wasn't home and have the PATIENCE to wait until that persons schedule was available to return our call, without expectation for all hour access and immediate response

when we had to make some time to visit a library and actually research information with sources that could be validated and verified and held accountable

I think, in terms of technology, the older days were better for us,, and our sustainability than the new days when there is some object to do everything for us

the only 'better' thing really is there is another venue available for people to get out of the 9-5 rut and actually make a go at supporting themselves or their families while not having to spend money on gas, work wardrobe, car insurance etc,,, not having to spend hours in traffic, and not having to be a slave to a clock or a calendar, not having to kiss butt or follow clicks or 'accept' whatever just to make money that may or may not even be enough to support themselves/their families,,, but I believe those stories are like hitting the lotto and not that common

Regarding new technology, the more complex it is on the inside, the more likely it will create headaches for you should it malfunction.

Old Tech = Pride in Craftsmanship

New Tech = Functional Obsolescence

I can remember when microwave ovens came on the scene

before that? how did we warm things up again? oh ya on the stove

how wonderful it was when you could take a phone with you in the car

in case you had car trouble

without that long twisty cord...

but now....everywhere you go someone has there phone out

I think it's more about what you do with new technology, and unfortunately new tech can be much too intrusive. Personally I'm more impressed with old technology, or tech that stays useful after decades. I still use unix commands that haven't changed in over 20 years! :)

Hi lu!

I prefer new technology. It's improved my life exponentially. I know people argue how lazy we have become, but in my mind ,laziness is a choice. It has little to do with technology. I still do calculations without a calculator sometimes. And even with the luxuries of cars and escalators , I can still choose to walk to some destinations .

People unfairly demonise technology sometimes in the same way some people demonise wealth .

There is nothing evil about technology and there is nothing evil about money. It all depends on how one chooses to use it

New technology. as It is ever changing and does allow for a person to manage more and more information.

It also allows for systems to notify you of problems.. or potential problems, which in the business world translate into cost savings.

You can now run dozens of machines.. doing 100's of diffent things all while sitting on front of your keyboard.

It allows for total visibility into every aspect of your work

Frankly, I couldn't do what I do without it.

Technology:
New Technology - Because;
-> Medicine is better/evolved
-> Communication is better/simpler/faster
-> White goods round the house are better too (lighter/cheaper)
-> People are more aware of the damage being done to Mother Earth
-> Easier to catch criminals

Times:
Old Times - Because;
-> Morals & Principles were better
-> Family values were more valuable than now
-> Life was uncomplicated

Sorry can't think more....

One of the big downsides is that you " can't hide",

back when.. before cell phone and all of that you could goof off a bit in the afternoon and then walk into the office to hear.. Hey... we've been looking all over for you!. and you could just say " oh, really.. then give a good BS line

but now... your are totally connected.

I like that the advancements in technology make the difficult things easier but there is a point at which the industrialized nations have become too dependent upon it to make the easy things easier as well.

My only fear about technology is that the move Idiocracy will one day come true.
