"Lean on" kind of devalues what you just suggested is their strengths. How about work together as equals?
Then the mindset is not unfairly burdening one over the other. DOESN'T mean we don't honor what strengths either side brings to the relationships.

Now I know what mom was referring to about one of her flowers. She always called them "mums".

If you date a single mother who is struggling financially,.. offer to pay for the babysitter

Well, I'm all in favor of love in any situation, but it seems to be very easy to go from appreciation of good qualities about people, and prejudice about them.

So watch out that your general positive sense of why women with children CAN be nice and nurturing, result in your closing your eyes to whatever the reality of the particular individual is. It wouldn't be all that wonderful for the woman, if she got the feeling that it wasn't HER who you liked, it was just the fact that she had a kid.

Nothing wrong with dating single mothers as long as you're willing to accept the fact that her children come first and have patience to deal with it.
