Okay ladies and gentlemen it's been brought to my attention that some women have noticed a decline in chivalry..
Men that no longer open their door for them or carry the heavy bags home..
Pull out the chair at the dining table for her..
Lend her your hand when stepping over the curb...

So guys are you guilty of being without chivalry... and ladies have you noticed the decline in gentlemen being gentlemen..

Well they might be right I mean it was their own fault to fight for equal rights in the first place  I personally tend to help women with heavy bags if I'm not in a hurry but yea chivalry is fading away. Things that once was considered polite or chivalry are kind of formalities now and the youth, especifically, think of them as lame gestures or they just don't care.

I was, I am and I always will be one who treats women with respect. I pull out chairs, open doors, give flowers for no reason, offer to carry things that are too heavy, compliment women when they deserve it. I will remain that way and will never change.

I don't think its dead. I think a lot of it is based on how you were brought up. We were brought up to respect women, hold the door open for them, offer your seat on the bus or subway, ect, ect

That carries over into your adult life

But I also think during the " women's lib" period a lot of guys basically said.. " hold the door open for yourself".. I think that movement killed it off a bit. The movement was needed.. and over due. the delivery of it was hard at times to stand as it was sometimes shoved down your throat.

I don't think it is dead at all. You just gotta attract the right guys, not the wankers, and whether you do depends on yourself as a woman.
It's quite logical if you're a masculine energy woman -you know, one of them girls who needs to proof she can do it all herself- then of course a guy won't be chivalrous anymore. You don't give him a chance to.
Men tend to want to be chivalrous by nature, give, provide & protect, provided a woman hasn't robbed them of that tendency (yet). And if a woman is a woman and attracted a quality guy, she'll get chivalry.

Now not all men may do that the same way, so if a guy doesn't open doors all the time, it doesn't mean he isn't chivalrous, he can show it in many other ways too.

Also, with men of approx 40+ you may have to inspire him to be chivalrous when an ex has sorta ruined it.
In short, I don't think chivalry is a one-way street. It depends on woman/women in a man's life whether he (still) is or not. And yes, that includes mommy dearest.

My car remote is broken... her door doesn't have a keyhole lock. In order for me to be courteous I would have to walk her to her door, leave her there, walk around to my door, open it, pop the locks, get back out and walk back around to her door open it and let her in...
By the time that's done... she's already met someone else and is engaged to be married. sad2

Feminism killed chivalry. "What men can do, we can also." And they complain when guys don't open doors for them anymore...

Chivalry is less practised than it used to be but I still see it often enough to know its alive.

What I wish is that chivalry was ingrained in both men and women because to me it embodies simple kindness to humanity that we should all practice

If a man or anyone else for that matter is behind me when I open a door, I leave it open for them to ealj through . If an elderly man cant find a seat on a bus, whats wrong with a woman giving up her seat for him?

I dont see why kindness should be gender-based

Well chivalry is not dead.....its still there, but in my experience same has been confused with a boring personality,at least in India.People have become so much accustomed to its absence that if its seen somewhere its rather be confused with fake personality or boring one.

Carry home her bags, more like exit left when she see's me at the traffic light, cross the road anyone? 'chuckle' And she's right for doing that, who can trust anybody nowadays.
If I tried to do that for some strange woman, she would look terrified at me as though I was going to rob her. Sorry!!! fact of life, my experiences in reality.

Not completely disappeared; but almost unknown by the actual reaguetton generation.

Older generations have the responsibility keeping that social behavior highly appreciated by many people. It will never dissapear.

I would agree you see more of it in older generations
opening car doors, holding umbrella for the lady
carrying the heavy stuff so she does not have to
dropping her off at the door
picking her up
hanging up her jacket at the restaurant
asking her what she would like and then ordering
for both of when the waiter comes
standing if she stands to go use the ladies room ( powder her nose)
but..

there are some my age and older who do not do any of this
who believe that women should not be put on a pedastool
or treated any different then any of the guys they know
in fact, when I have questioned the younger men on this one
they claim that some of the girls get irritated with them
when they try to open the door for them

somewhere along the line
our young women have gotten the message
that in order to be treated like a whole person
we must now be treated like a man

saddens me...really
somehow they missed the boat on this one
that men and women are not alike
we are not replicas of one another
but are made to compliment one another

Chivalry is a myth. Its roots are traced mainly from French and Anglo/Norman writers who created a literary genre called "Chivalric Romance."

Knights were not courtly and did not go off on gallant quests. Knights were usually brutal ruthless enforcers of brutal Lords and Kings.

Sooooo, to answer your question, NO! How can something be dead that never really existed?
