no one the powerball & now the jackpot is at $200 mill what would you take lump sum or monthly pymts over 30yrs?

I don't think we have powerball in michigan.. we have mega millions which is a multi-state lottery I think I would want the lump sum... but it all depends on how much the payment were too...

I would help alot of people then put the rest in Coffee cans put them in the ground and have A treasure hunt .....

I'd want the lump some. I'd be afraid something might happen to me before the 30 yrs was up...then someone else would get to play with my money.

$200 million?? holy crap (it's at $23 million in canada and we think that's a big lottery) i'd take it all in one lump. even taxed, the net would be way more than i, or my family and friends, would ever need.

Lump sum, if you pass before the payments are finished your family doesn't get the rest.... That's not true, at least for powerball. WHAT HAPPENS IF AN ANNUITY PRIZE WINNER DIES? First there will be a funeral. Then the estate will handle the lottery prize. A lottery annuity prize is just like any other asset. You can pass any remaining annuity payments on to your heirs or to anyone else. The Powerball game will even cash out an annuity prize for an estate. This may make it easier for the estate to distribute the prize. It also may be necessary to cash out the annuity to pay Federal estate taxes. We will sell some or all of the securities at competitive bid or will even just transfer the securities to the estate. We do not charge a fee of any kind. I think that this misunderstanding may come from the response that the prize "goes to the Estate" and some people hear "goes to the State."

I had actually looked this up before because I worked with a lady that won $26 million and died 6 months later.
