I thought I'd share this because it's too beautiful to keep to myself.
(At least the story is anyway)
This is a bit lengthy, but it's a true story. bigsmile

A poetic description of
The Birth of the Universe
as told by modern science.
(a poem by Abracadabra)

The Cauldron of Creation

A quantum fluctuation
quietly unfolds
as silent as a breath of spring
its nativity untold

As ironic as this sounds
it's true in every sense
the labor of the universe
was quiet but intense

No sound waves were created
it was a whisper of a bang
using Heisenberg's Uncertainty
from the quantum field it sprang

It lingered for a moment
in state of latent heat
then began to fast expand
in a cycle that repeats

It doubled every thousandths
of a thousandths of a second
a million billion doublings
so the scientists have reckoned

Exponential growth
doubling in size
a million billion doublings
to form our midnight skies

No one knows just why it stopped
but something went kaput
and then the empty space inside
became a flaming cloud of soot

Subatomic particles
swarming like the bees
a countless sea of photons
acting like a breeze

Now we have the "Bang"
of a cosmic ringing bell
sound waves bouncing madly
in a flaming burning hell

No matter can exist
in pure atomic form
it's just a bunch of particles
in a scattered dancing swarm

Yet they are not alone
there's something lurking in the dark
a heavy mass of matter
that leads the dance that they embark

This matter's like a parent
mentoring the way
without her loving presence
things would go astray

She kept the swarming masses
dancing to a beat
forming little pockets
where stars would later meet

All of this was written down
in a letter penned by hand
sent to us in microwaves
as an email faintly scanned

Still cooling from expansion
the soot became a gas
electrons hugging protons
making space as clear as glass

Darkness fell upon the deep
as photos stretched and yawned
the atoms clumped together
forming clouds where stars are spawned

Nuclear explosions
gave rise to vivid light
radiating brilliantly
to penetrate the night

Cooking in the tummies
of these giant sultry stars
the atoms came together
forming into czars

Suddenly in novas,
explosions in the night
the heavy atoms blown away
in a liberating flight

Once again they came together
forming clouds where stars are born
but this time heavy elements
would often be forlorn

The heavy elements settled
in orbits round the stars
forming little planets
like Venus, Earth, and Mars

And if a planet's lucky
to have an orbit like the Earth
it too can be a parent
taking part in giving birth

All the little atoms
that were children of the dark
can now begin to form a dance
giving consciousness a spark

Atom after atom
combining into groups
forming chains of molecules
in a primal muddy soup

It might not sound like ecstasy
but it's as sexy as can be
an exploitation of proliferation
in a lawless potpourri

Over many countless eons
the atoms left the sea
and walked around as couples
in the form of He and She

They looked above to the midnight sky
and pondered how this could be?
Then finally read the email
that they had sent when they were free

I figured a bushel of apples would only wind up sauced, but I do love it when you teach in this manner!!!!
