The aftermath of the new math.
An instrumental in a foreign language.
What I did on my Summer vacation
was learn you can't believe a word that they said.

The hidden agenda.

The aftermath of the new math.
It's fun for the whole family.
In the future the sanity rations
will come in sardine cans that won't have a key.

The hidden agenda

The aftermath of the new math.
Dispensing with all pleasantries.
I've lost my mind because I'm hooked on phonics
and I breathe re-visionist history.

The hidden agenda

The aftermath of the new math.
...and what the hell will happen to me?
It's the running joke, it's the new Coke
crack and divide and then you shall see
...the hidden agenda.

O.K. To be fair, this was NOT meant to be directed toward anybody. I just feel I need to make that clear. It just occurred to me that somebody out there would take this the wrong way.

"and I breathe re-visionist history."

You misuse the term "revisionist history" here. In reality, the term is used to describe a type of history that departs from the "official" version of events touted by intellectuals/officials in the search for what actually happened in the past. Historians actually do this quite a bit. Otherwise, you have a decent motif to build on in future drafts. glasses

Thanks for the input. I actually meant to use revisionist history the way I did. We all breathe revisionist history everyday due to people twisting the past to achieve their own agenda. That's a big part of what the poem is about.

...see, not all people that rewrite history are actually concerned with the truth. Their motives can be suspect....

That's true, but such people are more accurately called "fabricators of history" than "revisionist historians". As I was trying to explain before, when new methods of research develop, we find new evidence-leading to new conclusions about existing data. Thus revisions must be made to the record to reflect the new data. "Lincoln Unmasked" is a great book in this genre of history. :)
