Obama's Aunt: US Obligated to Make Me a Citizen
David Knowles Writer AOL News Surge Desk (Sept. 21) -- As Congress prepares to re-initiate the stalled immigration reform debate this week, one very personal immigration issue looks poised to hit the president close to home. President Barack Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, says she's done nothing wrong by illegally living in the United States for years and is therefore "deserving" of amnesty. "If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen," Onyango, 58, told Boston's WBZ news. In her first interview since Obama was elected president, Onyango described how she came to America in 2000 from her native Kenya, fell ill and was hospitalized. Upon her release, Onyango told WBZ, she was out of money. So rather than return to her homeland, she continued to live in the country in violation of immigration laws. Sponsored Links After stints in a Boston homeless shelter, Onyango was eventually put in public housing and began receiving disability payments.< So, tell me again how Illegals can't get Public Services and Welfare. In 2004, an immigration judge ordered her to leave the country, but Onyango remained. However, she noted that her story was less about intentionally flouting federal immigration policy and more about its ineffectiveness. "I didn't take advantage of the system," Onyango said. "The system took advantage of me." Onyango says that she received no help from Obama as her case was reviewed by Judge Leonard Shapiro, who ruled in May that Onyango could remain in the United States. |

I agree illegal is illegal and all illegals should be deported and made to enter the country legally.........and if the US wishes to change its INS entrance after that then that is on them, but if you are here illegally even if you have lived here illegally for a long time...........you are still illegal.......

Her comments prove how easy it is for Illegals to get Social Services. I see her, cuz her nephew in da' whitehouse, her getting honorary citizenship. H is very Pro-Illegal. |

I agree, except for the legal exceptions for asylum I agree with asylum and refugees being allowed, but usually INS grants them entrance pretty quickly if that's the case. |

H is very Pro-Illegal. this 'illegal' obtained a social security card while she was still 'legal'....... Onyango came again to America on a temporary visa in 2000 along with a son who had been accepted at a college in Boston.[18] Commercial databases show she received a Social Security card in 2001, indicating she was legally present in the country at that time.[7] Since 2003 she has been living in a South Boston public housing project, according to Boston Public Housing Authority (BHA) officials.[3] William McGonagle, deputy director of the Authority, noted Onyango did a good job as a public health advocate on behalf of the Boston Housing Authority.[3][19] She also works as a volunteer computer systems co-ordinator for the Experience Corps, a program in which adults over 55 mentor children in their communities.[1] McGonagle added "We have no affirmative responsibility I am aware of to further check on their status after they are initially deemed to be eligible."[20] Onyango was in legal status as an asylum seeker at the time she applied for public housing in 2002.[1][6] A BHA official stated the agency was never notified of a deportation order.[21] Described as a frail woman who walks with cane, she lives in flat normally set aside for people facing physical hardship.[1] She moved into the apartment, run by Massachusetts authorities, after back surgery made walking difficult.[6] A 1977 federal consent decree, resulting from a class action lawsuit in Waltham, prohibits state officials from denying public housing to illegal immigrants.[6] State senator Robert Hedlund is reportedly working on getting the state subsidized housing situation to parallel more recent federal rulings.[22] read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeituni_Onyango |

I could really care less what WiKI says.
This report has her own words. She claims she's an Illegal and feels entitled to citizenship. By not stating she had a deport status on herm she commited fraud to get public services. Her own country stated she was in no danger. She says she ran out of money and decided to become illegal. |

yes but an asylee may request asylum and not all illegal actions in other places are considered illegal here..........if it is considered cruel and unusual punishments they may receive asylum into the US...............

Use her last months 'free gov. money' to buy a raft and send her on her way.

she shouldnt be in line in front of those who are trying to enter legally,,, I agree,,
if she wants to appeal the asylum decision, she should do that legally too |
|

She says, in her words, she was and is Illegal.
The judge granted her temporary stay. Hopefully, her fraud will be revealed and she is deported. |
