Exclusive: Nelson teen 'breathing on his own' after controversial cannabis treatment

A Nelson teenager who was granted special dispensation to use medical cannabis has been taken off life support and is now breathing on his own.

“He breathes all by himself now with no help,” Alex Renton's mother Rose Renton says today.

"His heart is strong and his lungs are strong.”

It’s a big development for Alex, who has been lying in Wellington Hospital in an induced coma for two months, in “status epilepticus”, a kind of prolonged seizure.

For nine days, Alex has been receiving cannabis oil treatment Elixinol, brought in from the United States with special government approval.

Alex’s family has asked doctors to increase the doses of cannabis oil. He will be now given the oil four times a day.

They have also asked the hospital to “gently” reduce Alex’s anti-epileptic drugs.

“Alex could be woken very slowly if the seizures stop,” says Ms Renton.

“His sedation level is still high.”

Brain scans have shown Alex is still experiencing seizures. He is able to open his eyes but cannot communicate.

“I take each day as it comes, and trust Alex knows what he needs,” says Ms Renton.

“Today he is stronger, as the room is quiet. There is no monitoring and beeping, less medication and more rest.”

Alex’s six siblings will be spending the weekend with him at Wellington Hospital

Rand Paul is poised to become the first major presidential candidate in memory to sue the government he seeks to lead as president.

The Kentucky senator will take legal action against the U.S. Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service for what he says is the denial of his constitutional right to vote on more than 100 tax-information treaties that the Obama administration unilaterally negotiated with foreign governments, The Washington Times has learned.

In what the suit says is a violation of Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, President Obama has not consulted the U.S. Senate about the treaties nor given the Senate an opportunity to approve or disapprove of the treaties. The administration calls them “intergovernmental agreements.” They require foreign banks to gather and share private financial information about millions of Americans living and working outside the U.S. — information they would not have to disclose to the U.S. government if they lived and worked in the U.S.

The treaties or agreements are the enforcement mechanisms of the Obama administration’s Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), enacted by a Democratic-controlled Congress in 2010

According to the official theory, the Twin Towers collapsed due to the structural steel being weakened by fire. In other words, they collapsed due to fire. if that's the case, then how come no modern high-rise, before or after 9/11, has ever collapsed because of a fire?? If that's the case, 9/11 would be the first time in history a modern steel building has ever collapsed due to fire or steal weakened by fire.

For example, why didn't this building collapse?



1991 One Meridian Plaza fire in Philadelphia, raged for 18 hours and gutted 8 floors of the 38-floor building. 1988 First Interstate Bank Building fire in Los Angeles, which burned out of control for 3-1/2 hours and gutted 4 floors of the 64 floor tower. Both of these fires were far more severe than any fires seen in Building 7, but those buildings did not collapse. The Los Angeles fire was described as producing "no damage to the main structural members".
