Hi folks,

Sorry about this, but we're having a temporary problem with changing
images. We hope to have a fix in place shortly. In the meantime, you
temporarily won't be able to upload new images, or delete current
images.

This issue was related to the downtime we had briefly on the site today,
so if you had any problems connecting to the site, that's why.

So sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for your patience.

That's very difficult to say pms. It's almost impossible for us to know
who's telling the truth when one person accuses another of lying if the
information in question is something that occurred off the site.

Why don't you email me privately and we'll take a look.

Thanks,
Mike

If you turn off your IM, it will take a little while before you stop
showing up as being online. But after about an hour or so, you should
no longer show up as online even if you're logged on.

You can turn off instant messaging by going to the tab "My Account",
then clicking on the "Settings" link, then clicking "Turn off instant
messaging".

If you want to visit any user's profile, you can go to
http://www.justsayhi.com/username . For example, to see my profile, go
to http://www.justsayhi.com/mike

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to quickly announce that we made some small changes to
Instant Messaging today:

- Now, you are ALWAYS asked whether you want to accept the IM request
before the IM window appears. The IM window will no longer
automatically appear if you do not have a pop-up blocker. No one can
instant message you unless you deliberately accept their request.

- The IM request notification now includes a link to the profile of the
user who wants to IM you. So you can view their profile before you
decide whether to accept.

- You will no longer see the instant messaging button if you do not have
instant messaging turned on yourself. So if the instant messaging
button has disappeared, make sure you have instant messaging turned on.

Hopefully these changes will give all users a little more control over
who instant messages with them.

If anyone experiences any issues with instant messaging, please let us
know ASAP. We obviously want to know about any bugs with the new
features, but we'd also love to get your feedback on how you like the
new changes.

Hope everyone is enjoying the site!

Thanks,
Mike

Buttons - sorry, I'm not quite sure I'm following you. Can you describe
in a little more detail the problem you are having?

OK rozey, I think we fixed it. Can you try again and let us know? You
may have to hit "refresh" once on your browser on that page if it
doesn't work the first time.

Hi rozey,

Sorry, that's a bug. We'll try to get a fix out for that ASAP.

Thanks for letting us know.

I deleted it due to drama. It wasn't that bad yet but it was heading in
that direction, so I just got rid of the whole thing. If you guys
really loved it, I can bring it back, but I just didn't want it to
spiral downhill.

Also as an FYI - we do love Kojack, but we also love everyone on the
site. We don't play favorites. We even love you BigGlenn.

Are you sure you're looking at requests to be your friend? You might be
looking at friend requests you've sent OUT to other users, not to users
asking to be your friend. Can you double check and let us know?

Actually finep asked for the ability to do this a while ago. We
definitely wanted to get it done but it just kept getting bumped down
our list because we kept having higher priority features to work on.
sad

But I'm glad we were finally able to get it done and hopefully it will
help remove at least some of the issues or misunderstandings around
this feature.

As one step towards fixing this problem, we just launched the ability to
delete people from your "Who's added me as a favorite" list. So if you
don't like the fact that someone has added you as a favorite, you can
delete them.

To delete someone who's added you as a favorite, just go to the "Added
me as a favorite" page and click on the little X in the upper right next
to their mini-profile.

broke it sad . But I'll fix it today...

The way to out them is to use Report Abuse. Do NOT post their name in
the forums.

The other, of course, great way to handle situations like this is just
to block the user. They won't be able to contact you again. And
blocking the user is another way to let us know that a user is
potentially a problem on the site.

We are also planning on adding a feature where you will be able to block
people who've been blocked by other users. So basically, you'll be able
to automatically block people who've behaved poorly to other people.
We're still fine-tuning the feature - we want to make sure innocent
people who either accidentally get blocked or get blocked for other
reasons besides being rude don't get caught in the filter. And we want
to make sure it can't be abused. But hopefully, it will provide a big
incentive for people to be polite, because getting blocked too many
times will mean you won't be able to talk to most users on the site.

Do NOT post the name of the user in the forums though. That's
absolutely a rule violation that can result in a temporary or permanent
suspension of posting privileges.

Thanks for the heads up Verb - I'll take a look and see what I can find.
What browser and operating system are you using?

Hi Mastadon -

Usually, if you receive an email notice of a new message, but there is
no message in your inbox, it's because the user that sent you that
message has deactivated their account or was banned.

If you check your email notice, it should tell you what user the message
was sent from. You can then lookup that user on the site and see if
they are still active.

For example, if the user who sent you a message was me (mike), you can
see my profile by going to:

http://www.justsayhi.com/mike

Just replace mike with whatever user sent you the message and you'll be
able to see if that user is still active.

Hope that helps.

Folks -

While this has been a very stimulating discussion, personal attacks are
not allowed in the forums.

If you want to debate this issue intelligently, feel free. It is
absolutely fine to debate the issues and attack the message. You may
not, however, attack the messenger. Doing so will result in anything
from a temporary suspension of posting privileges to permanent banning
from the site.

We know these are sensitive topics that lots of folks feel passionate
about. But please debate them in a reasonable fashion.

Thanks,
Mike
