The planet's already exceeded its limits for sustainable living, which is why resources are quickly becoming scarce. There are too many people in the world, it is just a matter of time for a plague to mutate and begin to cull the excess population or eradicate mankind in short order.

Huge national debt isn't helping in some countries struggling to survive.
