I try and surround myself with positive and joyful people, therefore negative and hurtful words shouldn't be a part of happier people's lives. I stay far away from drama!!

i think the thing that hurts me the most is when people say the meanest things too u u try an forgive them but then they do it too you again i been through that all my life i guess that is the part of life

I get upset when there are empty promises. Someones word is very important to me.

Yes and no. Yes, it is a refelction of your own poor/weak mental state (I would have used the term "ego") if you are easily hurt by others. Unkind remarks or finding out that others don't like me rarely hurts me because I have matured past worrying about those things.

However, if you spouse suddenly wakes up one day and says, "I no longer love you and I"m leaving" or a parent says to a child, "You are worthless" then I think that would hurt. And, the pain would not be a reflection yof your poor/weak mental state.

You won the lottery! $10 million!

But, you have a terminal illness and you'll be dead in a month.

What do you do with the money? Or who do you leave the money to?

False Evidence Against Reality

fear is natural and beautiful in it's balanced state..it helps keep us alive and well...it's the irrational fears that cause problems....when the kids were all still young and home...and I was alone raising them I had a long period of living in flight or fight mode...I feared anything and everything that I felt powerless against....and sometimes that was simply the outside world....so nights were often long...as I would get up multiple times to check doors and windows etc..and still would have sleepless nights due to the horrific nightmares which would exacerbate the situation.
Obviously, this was during an extremely unbalanced phase in my life and the fear had reached quite the irrational level, I recognized this and pushed on, with time and determination and a little time off from my stressful job outside of the home (something had to give the kids weren't going anywhere)...it passed, well the worst of it anyway....then they reached the teen years...one by one..

I blank it out.
Totally.
I am good at this.
I was abused as a child.
You learn real fast to go somewhere
in your head that the abuser
cannot touch.

I had nightmares every night of my
life stemmming from this.
Then one day, 40+ years later.
Guess what.
The abuser died.
Never another nightmare.
Gone, forever.
Pretty cool.

So, either I fear everything.
Or I fear nothing at all.
I am unsure.

The dark, Yuck hate it,

I still go out in it, but its a bummer, So I make one of the kids go out with me.

If I have to admit to fear of something; I would say failure in love. How do I overcome it; just stay busy and avoid it; however I still show love for family and friends; just not for a partner.

sadly, I dont feel secure enough anywhere to answer the door to strangers at night, most people now have cell phones they can use to call for help, or a car to go someplace public where they can ask for assistance


I wouldnt shoot them through the door or anything(that actually happened to kids who got lost going to prom) , but I wouldnt answer the door either.

Anyone that gets by my husky dog has to be good or a friend so yeah I would answer the door.

not until he produces ID, tells me his name and submits to a strip search

I don't even answer my door on bright/sunny days for strangers
