"How are you today?" I asked.
"I don't know. I haven't read the news yet," she replied.

That interchange caused me to reflect on my waking to the radio alarm blaring the news. It sets the tone for the day especially when it enters the dreamery where it concocts up something even more bizarre. There's no escaping bad news since the national broadcaster cancelled the morning music show.

I used to read newspaper articles on air for a specialty service for the blind. They were the only people I've ever encountered who liked bad news - it didn't disturb their equilibrium at all.

I'd love to find a way of removing the weight of the world from my shoulders. Perhaps meditating AFTER might help.

Thanks for writing the poem. "There's a crack in everything; that's how the light gets in."

For stress I like to listen to classical music with ocean surf in the background,or walk on the beach.

I entered a Polish delicatessen out of curiosity and left with four Paczki which I shared with a friend. It's a kind of donut with fillings like raspberry, prunes, cream. Delicious and far more substantial than the usual fluffy stuff...chewy even. I recommend Paczki to anyone with a slightly sweet tooth.

I think the men in our age group are more interested in dating women 10-20 years younger than themselves, making them fool themselves that they are that young also.

They are seeking their own youth.

.....and then there was the guy that told me he had a 30 year old mind in a 60 year old body. It seems a waste of time - 30 years, that is.

There's an instrumental piece by Fleetwood Mac called Albatross that I can listen to for hours, once in awhile.

What is your approach?

Begin at the beginning, proceed to the end and then stop.

No, I'm not into self-love; it's too narcissistic for me. I'd rather love somebody else.

I truely love this poem; it makes me laugh.

True Love

True love. Is it normal
is it serious, is it practical?
What does the world get from two people
who exist in a world of their own?

Placed on the same pedestal for no good reason,
drawn randomly from millions but convinced
it had to happen this way - in reward for what?
For nothing.
The light descends from nowhere.
Why on these two and not on others?
Doesn't this outrage justice? Yes it does.
Doesn't it disrupt our painstakingly erected principles,
and cast the moral from the peak? Yes on both accounts.

Look at the happy couple.
Couldn't they at least try to hide it,
fake a little depression for their friends' sake?
Listen to them laughing - its an insult.
The language they use - deceptively clear.
And their little celebrations, rituals,
the elaborate mutual routines -
it's obviously a plot behind the human race's back!

It's hard even to guess how far things might go
if people start to follow their example.
What could religion and poetry count on?
What would be remembered? What renounced?
Who'd want to stay within bounds?

True love. Is it really necessary?
Tact and common sense tell us to pass over it in silence,
like a scandal in Life's highest circles.
Perfectly good children are born without its help.
It couldn't populate the planet in a million years,
it comes along so rarely.

Let the people who never find true love
keep saying that there's no such thing.

Their faith will make it easier for them to live and die.

I love those antique, leather bound volumes of the classics that will last forever. I started a collection as a girl, but life has somehow taken them from me. Now they're hard to find.

I haven't chosen this profile picture because I'm ugly. Rather, after reading around on this site, it seemed to fit.

I'm eager to get back to BC; to leave the snow behind and greet the rain with a renewed appreciation for the milder climate. Any Beautiful BCers here?

So I signed on here and after looking at a few profiles I decided to send messages just to say hello. Well, it seems that people thought I was in pursuit of them and distrusted me. Soon I had to leave town for a few weeks and then it seemed even more likely that they distrusted me. Now, the question is: do I not understand the game or is there something wrong with my approach?
