The whole state of Illinois is corrupt as hell.
They'll probably be the first state to declare bankruptcy.
Business and People are leaving the state as fast as they can.
Maybe the service card is for freebies.

It's laughable. Oakland is facing potential bankruptcy, has an illegal alien MS-13 gang problem and an out of control homeless population
and the mayor has time for this? Her concern is more for the illegal
criminals that live in the city? She should be removed from office.

Oakland Mayor Faces Off Against ICE Over Warning Residents About Immigration Sweep

On Tuesday night, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested more than 150 people in Northern California suspected of being undocumented immigrants. More than 850 others, immigration officials said, slipped through their fingers.

That large number is being blamed on the actions of Oakland’s mayor, Libby Schaaf, who on Saturday made the controversial decision to go on television to warn the immigrant community in Oakland that she had heard from “multiple credible sources” that ICE was preparing an immediate, large-scale immigration raid in the Bay Area.

“My priority is for the well-being and safety of all residents — particularly our most vulnerable,” she said in a statement. She also directed undocumented immigrants and their friends and family to a resource about their rights.

ICE Deputy Director Thomas Homan condemned Schaaf’s “irresponsible” actions, saying in a statement Wednesday that “sanctuary jurisdictions like San Francisco and Oakland shield dangerous criminal aliens from federal law enforcement at the expense of public safety. … The Oakland mayor’s decision to publicize her suspicions about ICE operations further increased [the] risk for my officers and alerted criminal aliens—making clear that this reckless decision was based on her political agenda with the very federal laws that ICE is sworn to uphold.”

Homan also asserted that “ICE does not conduct sweeps or raids that target aliens indiscriminately, and the agency prioritizes public and national security threats, immigration fugitives and illegal reentrants.” However, roughly half of the immigrants rounded up in the raid had no criminal convictions.

Schaaf, who worked on deportation cases as an attorney earlier in her career and who has said she felt a moral obligation to warn residents, told the Washington Post on Tuesday that she made the decision as part of the resistance to the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies.

She told the Post that because she found out about the sweep through unofficial sources and not government channels, she does not think she obstructed justice or broke the law. At least one former federal prosecutor disagrees.

‘National disgrace’: Community fights back as California overrun by homelessness, human waste, needles

The specter of homeless encampments steadily expanding across the downtown streets of San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco – bringing with them a public health crisis – has one southern California community taking tough action to dismantle a two-mile-long camp just a short drive from Disneyland.

In a departure from the approach taken by other local governments in the state, officials in Orange County, Calif., have started to clear out the camp – by moving occupants and hauling away literally tons of trash and hazardous waste.

“It’s becoming part of the permanent landscape in those communities and there is no way we are going to allow Orange County land that is supposed to be used by residents to be occupied by the homeless,” said Todd Spitzer, who sits on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Trash trucks and contractors in hazmat gear have descended on the camp and so far removed 250 tons of trash, 1,100 pounds of human waste and 5,000 hypodermic needles.

But the effort hasn’t been without controversy as homeless advocates, the American Civil Liberties Union and a federal judge have all weighed in on the fate of some-700 people evicted from their home along the Santa Ana River -- next to Angel Stadium of Anaheim and a few miles from Disneyland, outside Los Angeles.

Spitzer, whose district includes the encampment, has battled the advocates since last fall when the decision was first made to close the camp. The ACLU and others filed a federal civil rights lawsuit to stop this and several stays have ensued until last week, when the final go-ahead was granted.

For those being evicted, a mediation with U.S. District Court Judge David Carter offered the choice of a bed in a shelter or a month-long motel voucher; medical aid; drug treatment; job training; storage for their belongings and housing for pets at the county animal shelter.

So far, 544 people have been moved to shelters and motel rooms and approximately 100 remain at the riverbed. Crews counted 207 tents, but it is unclear if they are occupied.

Officials in the county are mindful of how these camps have expanded in other major California cities.

Los Angeles’ homeless problem has now spread past Skid Row to much of downtown. The amount of feces littering the streets in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco has led to a hepatitis outbreak that spread throughout the state’s homeless communities, infecting 694 people. It skipped Orange County.

Spitzer singled out for criticism Los Angeles and San Francisco. San Francisco’s feces problem is so bad that a website now exists to warn residents of which streets to avoid. Los Angeles raised taxes last year in order to build housing for the homeless and has started a roving toilet program.

Approximately a half-million people in the United States are homeless, with California accounting for 25 percent -- the largest number of any state, according to a survey by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Orange County has 4,792 homeless.

A Los Angeles Times editorial over the weekend called the problem in the city a “national disgrace.”

Spitzer blames the problem on two issues: legislation signed by Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown over the past several years that has eroded the penalties for drug use, possession and petty crimes to where police often don’t bother making arrests; and the change in a law so that treatment is no longer forced for drug abuse or mental health issues.

..Can you think of any alternatives for countries at war .. Present or past

The whole point of WarGameswas:
'The only way to win a (thermonuclear) war was..
not to play.'

As tis men who usually call for war I think we should sew
them on a second penis..distraction, you know.

Oh my, Sofie. where would that second penis come from?noway

it seems to be an idea of hero requiring them to at least 'attempt' to take the bad guys life, regardless of the odd of that attempt will actually help anyone or not, or as in the case of guns, just provide them with another tool of death at the end of the day.

it makes think of the "attempts" being offered by Trump, Rubio,
Lapierre and others of the pro-gun advocate ilk...

ok, the bump-stock goes
ok, we'll look into the enhanced backround checks

but our main focus should be..arming a couple hundred thousand
teachers well trained teachers ex military teachers use our
veterans hang up signs that say "WE have guns stay away bad guys"

and when this brilliant plan of ours is all accomplished and
paid for we'll just sit back and wait for the bad guys
to show up at some random classroom and then our wonderful
teachers can kill them off one at a time, until all the
bad guys are dead and gone, and we will live happily ever after..

now that there^^is a real and viable attempt to solve the
problem of school shootings

#MAGA.......#NRA

or, a real attempt to solve the
problem of school shootings would be to get
on a date site forum and whine about it.
now that there is a real and viable solution.

Not needed, we already have on campus security at all schools here. they are called SRO's (school resource officers) and they carry those big ol'
Glock auto's with the extended round clip. I think they can handle the situation very well.
But thanks anyway.

i'll suggest an idea...

how about expanding backround checks
to allow 30 days to complete them ???

is there a reason someone can't wait more than 3 days
to take possession of their assault weapon ??

i think a 30 day waiting period would allow for
a more in-depth vetting process...

this would especially apply to persons who already have
purchased an assault weapon(s) How long ago ? has their
life changed or become stressed or have they began abusing
their spouse or children since their last purchase ?
what's the big hurry...use your other gun and if everything
checks you can pick this new one up next month..

whats wrong with waiting 30 days to evaluate any purchase..??

any objections or other suggestions on backround checks ???
no problem...I'll even suggest a step further... Make everyone show they have a way to keep the guns locked up as well, either by showing a receipt of a gun safe purchase, or they have to buy a trigger lock with the purchase...that one kid in Jersey, I think, stole his mother's guns to kill those kids... And his mother..

I suggest even two steps further, mandatory gun safety training class with
a gun purchase. Instructors could trained to spot a potential nut job.
Of course, criminals will not have to take the training class...

2nd amendment,it's a right to have a gun.banning guns is not happening

regulating the RETAIL and MANUFACTURING of guns does not infringe on a right to OWN A GUN. Making all types of guns inaccessible would, and noone is calling for that.

It's like regulating the building and sale of homes does not prevent people from access to have shelter, Retail/manufacturing of weapons does not prevent people from having access to (any) weapons.

Guns made here in the US are regulated to the max. Maybe you want to regulate them out of business?
