If all one is looking for is a simple date, then distance would be more of a consideration.

If one is looking for the most compatible lifetime partner, having a restrictive distance requirement would be more of an obstacle to that result.

I have never seen a memo that said a person's "soulmate" (or however you want to refer to them) was guaranteed to be in close proximity.

If you restrict your search to 50 miles or less, what if the perfect person for you is 51 miles away?
You're willing to drive 50 miles, but not 1 mile further?

Do: Be 6 feet tall.

Don't: Be a munchkin.

Do: Look like a male model.

Don't: Look like Quasimodo's twin brother.

Do: Drive a $1.4 million Ferrari LaFerrari.

Don't: Drive a Yugo.

Whenever I travel, I look for bookstores. Does anyone do that?

It depends.

If there is something unusual about a store, I do.

When I went to Portland OR, I made it a point to visit Powell's City of Books:

"Powell’s City of Books is the largest used and new bookstore in the world, occupying an entire city block and housing approximately one million books. Located in downtown Portland’s Pearl District, the City of Books has nine color-coded rooms and over 3,500 different sections, offering something for every interest, including an incredible selection of out-of-print and hard-to-find titles. Dozens of acclaimed writers, artists, and thinkers visit each month to read in the Basil Hallward Gallery (located upstairs in the Pearl Room), and a one-of-a-kind Rare Book Room draws bibliophiles from near and far to browse an impressive collection of autographed first editions and other collectible volumes."

Ever meet a person who just doesn't get it.

All the time.

The vast majority of people don't "get it"'

That's why newspapers are filled with the headlines and stories they have.

(1) Hitler

(1A) Mussolini
He was basically a wannabe Hitler who introduced Fascism.

Actually, Hitler started out as a wannabe Mussolini.
Mussolini was already boss in Italy in 1922 after his "March on Rome" while Hitler was still a nobody in Germany.
Hitler's 1923 failed "Beer Hall Putsch" in Munich and planned March on Berlin was an attempt to copycat Mussolini, who he admired.
And then Hitler later eclipsed Mussolini as Europe's top maniac when he did succeed to power.

Both.

The simple reality is that the glass is both half-full AND half-empty.
Anything less is not telling the complete story.

I tend to see things for what they are not what they could be..

I tend to see both.

tomorrow's future looks bright but... when I really look hard at it im doubtful...is that wrong.?..

It's not wrong if you are simply considering all the possibilities.

So to set the ball rolling I believe the three golden rules are:
1 Be yourself.
2 Be honest.
3 Be truthful.

Congrats on your noble attempt overall.

However, to be more specific, the three "golden" rules for MEN are:

1) Be 6 feet tall.

2) Be a male model, or look like one.

3) Own and drive a $1.4 million Ferrari LaFerrari (only 500 manufactured)

I suspect that men who fit this category seldom, if ever, lack for female companionship.

Or would have much of a problem on a dating site, either.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

Rejection is not really personal.

Most take it personal

as they don't know you yet so it cannot be personal.

People keep saying that.

Which is kind of weird.

Because the opposite of "rejection" is "acceptance".

Should people not take "acceptance" personally either?

What SHOULD people take personally?

We're wiser, more resilient and more understanding.

With age comes wisdom, courage, humility, compassion, patience

Is that the reason that the divorce rate among 2nd marriages is higher than 1st marriages, and the divorce rate among 3rd marriages is even higher?

All that wisdom and understanding and patience?

I've already dated one guy who had a heart attack and another who had a stroke.

Did these happen while they were on dates with you????

It is very hard at my height and age to find what I consider a person for me.

Especially when you make it harder on yourself.

I suppose I'm a little hung up on having a man taller than I am.

Certainly sounds like it.
Perhaps find something more important to be hung up on, such as integrity, honesty, or intelligence.

When it comes to dating or meeting potential dates, the ability to judge whether someone is decent or a creep is very important for their own personal safety!

Yes, it is.
And based on the number of disaster stories and disappointments related by people on dating site forums such as these, a lot of people are sorely lacking in that judgment ability.

Is anyone else following this mess?

A mess indeed.

A million questions and no clear, straight answers to any of them.

"Why good girl love bad boy?"

Can u justify?

No, I cannot "justify".
It cannot be "justified".

It can only be explained.
And rationalized.
Lamely.

It varies depending on the woman

Well, that certainly clears it all up.
