Whenever I travel, I look for bookstores. Does anyone do that?

have / had many hard backs
but mainly read on the net

I have found many good books at used book stores.

we had one a while back , close to the mall
they took and sold used book , cd's , and dvd's
but i have not been over there in a long time
not even sure if they are still there
i will have to look next time i get on the other side of town

I used to go to book stores and the events held by book stores.
I converted my library to electronic and never went back.
I am not opposed to meeting a woman at a book store but I won't by anymore dead wood.
I read more than anyone I know or have ever known.
I used to belong to multiple book of the month clubs.
eBooks are now better for me as my eyesight is getting worse each year.
I still have a recliner and a reading lamp set up in the living room.
I don't even buy magazines anymore, been years since I looked at a rag.

In firefox/waterfox control+ increases the text size and I am currently at 175% actual size to read comfortably.
My reading glasses are even getting blurry.
Getting old SUX!

I always check small, local and independent bookstores. Or flea markets. Or charity shops. Found plenty of bargains

I always like going to used bookstores. Libraries have great book sales, as well as yard sales.

I love used bookstores. Why pay full price for a book, record or dvd if you dont have to.

I also frequent used/old bookshops! The prices of new books are exorbitant. In my town, there are some used book vendors who open shop on the pavements at evening. One can get some really cheap books (especially if they are not in demand!). Its tough to browse through all the books, as they would all be piled in high stacks! I have bought hundreds of old Readers Digest Magazines (the very old ones!) too. Of late, I have moved to Kindle :( I dont have the money to pay for all the books I devour!

I used to love going to book stores, new and used. Just the smell of paper or old books could take me to a different world in my mind. It was like a search for treasures to me.
Nowadays, I simply download whole books from the net.

I like old books in second hand / curio shops.
The old handyman and home medicine books, from the early 1900's.
Old atlases, and boat and ship books with old photos.
Interesting reading hand written notes in margins etc.

I used to frequent old book stores, one in particular.
It was on 2 floors, with thousands of books stacked in unlikely,
rickety pillars.the futher down you went, the older the books got.
until you found really old leather bound tomes and huge books that were a challenge to lift (tonotomes)

or really old tomes with green covers (toxitomes)
there was a period when book makers used arsenic as
part of the process. the University of Southern Denmark
recently removed 3 such toxitomes from its library.

book bombs (terrortomes) crop up from time to time.

Sometimes books have been impregnated with psychoactive
substances by cults (psychotomes)

Who knows what you might find in an old bookshop.

I use an Ereader these days..

I love love book stores! Especially those little one's hid in small towns.

I always feel lucky when I find a book sale while driving through a small town.

I highly recommend the "Rarely Ever Open"* used bookstore across the street from the "Grab It And Growl"* cafe in Lance Creek, Wyoming

I read from my kindle and love it. However, when I fly somewhere I always purchase a book to read on the airplane. I buy a book at the airport leaving home and buy another for on the way home.

That bookstore in Wyoming sounds goods, unfortunately I have no plans of driving that way soon.

I keep bookstores high on the list of things to do while travelling. Impulse shopping is great in bookstores, don't really think in those terms on the net. Ebooks are okay, but I just like an actual book in hand. A great find is when previous owners have put newspaper clippings in a book that relate to the subject. Interesting to see what people thought of it before I bought it. Now I can't wait for my next trip.
