Spelling doesn't matter to me, as long as I can understand what you're trying to say. I don't use spell check and if someone has a problem with my typos, sentence structure or spelling, I feel that that says more about them as a critical and judgemental personality than it does about my literacy. You can be a genius at spelling and an english major and still be an arrogant and narcissistic person. Just my opinion... Aren't you doing the same thing that you don't like, by judging someone who cares about spelling and grammar? To me, it's superficial whether or not someone has all the proper grammatical tools to communicate in written form. I do feel though that it is significant whether or not they're socially capable and willing to display empathy towards those who're maybe less schooled than they are...<--(sentence ended on a preposition) There's folks on this site who don't spell as well as I, that doesn't make them less, or me more... It doesn't have any thing to do with the "price of rice in China". They're here to socialize as best they can. I'm only saying that I don't begrudge them that, as long as they're sincere in their attempts. It's not that "judging" per se is a bad thing, it's that judging someone harshly over such a superficial misgiving is (to me), a horse of a different color. You have to keep in mind that people have preferences. They may be different than yours. There's nothing wrong with that. Yes, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you and you're quite right. I was only speaking for myself. I thought we were all stating our preferences so I gave mine. |

It's not that "judging" per se is a bad thing, it's that judging someone harshly over such a superficial misgiving is (to me), a horse of a different color. But you're not in a position to determine just HOW superficial this (or any) particular consideration might be for someone else -- and here's where the gray area comes in. For me, writing and language skills are of tremendous importance -- for someone else, they won't be. It's the same with any individual preference or standard. Everyone has the right to their own determinations. It doesn't make anybody right or wrong -- it just makes us individuals with different concerns and desires. But I am in a position to determine it for me. That's why I said "to me". I agree though that you're exactly right. You choose your friends and I'll choose mine. I'll choose someone with a good heart and an understanding nature over someone without those qualities but posseses a quick wit and sharp language skills. But that's just me... (sorry for the run-on sentences) ![]() |

HaHaHa, that is good another barely veiled threat to people who believe differently than you. My my what a good Xian your are. Excuse me? I don't see it as "veiled" at all...It's posted in the Christian forum... For my part,it's a joke, meant to amuse... If you take it as a threat, that's up to you... Have a good day! ![]() |

Hi Tanya!
Gimme two qts O+ please and hold the malaria... ![]() Uhm... My thoughts on this phenomenon is that if you respect yourself enough, you'll command respect from others. I've been around folks who TRIED to drain me, or get me down, but then I remember my trusty superpowerful self-esteem ring and as I hold it tightly, I chant to myself "BE GONE YE CURSED!" and then clarity of mind kicks in and I'm relieved because I remember a promise to myself to never "let the bastards get ME down!" Anyways...It works for me. Hugs gf! ![]() |

FOR ALL THE ATHEIST OUT THERE...JUST A LITTLE JOKE.
AN ATHEIST in The WOODS... YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD IT,,,,,BUT IT ALWAYS MAKES ME SMILE THAT I DO LOVE THE LORD. An atheist was walking through the woods " What a beautiful day" What majestic trees! What a powerful river! What a great place! He said to Himself As he was walking along the river, he heard a rustling in the woods. As he turned around.....he was staring down a 7ft.GRIZZLY BEAR charging toward him. He ran as fast as he could...the Bear was on his Heels...Then suddenly he tripped and fell to ground. About that time...the Bear was on top of him....HE CRIED OUT....." OH MY GOD" time froze at that time..The Bear was still...The forest was silent...NOT A SOUND. A voice came from the Sky...YOU DENY MY EXISTENCE FOR ALL YEARS, TO TEACH OTHERS THAT I DON'T EXIST. DO YOU EXPECT ME TO HELP YOU OUT OF THIS PREDICAMENT? AM I TO COUNT YOU AS A BELIEVER? THE Atheist looked up and said "It would be hypocritical of me to ask you to treat me as a CHRISTIAN now, but perhaps you could make the Bear a CHRISTIAN? VERY WELL' said the voice The sounds of the forest resumed. The Bear dropped his right paw,,brought BOTH paws together, bowed his head and spoke. LORD PLEASE BLESS THIS FOOD,WHICH I AM ABOUT TO RECEIVE FROM THY BOUNTY THROUGH CHRIST OUR LORD. AMEN LIFE IS SHORT...ENJOY LIFE..BE THANKFUL. PS. Hello to all my brothers & sisters in Christ! I hope you're all having a blessed day! |

Sounds like the thermostat is faulty. If it's a wall control (meaning that the control is mounted on the wall), you might try taking the cover off and checking the contact points to make sure they're disconnecting as you move the switch. If it's an older style, it probably has a mercury switch and you should see the contacts disengaging.
Or, like the other poster already noted, you could turn it off at the power panel breaker. |

I suppose folks would be happy if they just had rock solid evidence that God exists...I suppose then they'd feel okay about believing and giving creedence to the bible.
The problem with that is that God's wisdom is infinitely more logical than our own... If God revealed his presence beyond a shadow of doubt, it would rule out free will... Who denies the existence of the sky? Who doesn't believe the sun exists? God wants relationship with us... He doesn't want automatons... The angels in heaven know beyond any doubt that God is real... God's plan is that we grow to see beyond the phisical realm and experience him and each other in spirit. His desire is that each of us come to him as a child...With an open heart, with a yearning spirit to experience him as he is...a pure spirit and as our creator who knows our every thought even before we think them. If you need proof, you're only considering the phisical realm. If you had that proof without the requirement of faith, you'd not have free will in the fullest sense because again...who doesn't believe in the sky? Everything we experience in this realm has been puposely created to give us the opportunity in every passing moment to see with our spirit beyond the veil that seperates us from God's kingdom. imo |
